So I come home from a couple of weeks away from and my computer. I try to open iTunes today and I get a window that says:
"The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created, and is required.
The default location is inside the 'My Music' folder."
This makes absolutely no sense to me. I cruised the iTunes site, the faqs and the message boards, but found NOTHING in regards to this message. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes seems to be the remedy for most error messeges, but like I said I saw no mention of this one.
My comp has been acting very strangely lately. Very slow. I'm afraid I have a worm or virus or something. I have AntiVir but nothing comes up when I scan my comp.
suggestions?

Have you looked around to see if the music is still on your hard drive somewhere?

The music is still there, on my external drive. But every time I click a music file the same window pops up.

Which would mean redoing all your playlists.
Do you have enough room on your main drive to keep the music there? Maybe that's got something to do with it.

You may have some spyware thats causing it. I had problems on getting my Limewire open awhile back ( to watch wrestling clips) and I blocked a piece of spyware that was important to the function of Limewire. So I had to delete it all , and re-install that.
Think you may have blocked something thats key to "Itunes " at some point ?

howy, not enough room on my hard drive to move the music to. But the iTunes site says you can uninstall iTunes without losing any of the music.
ECW, that is what I'm suspecting. I did another virus scan last night and it didn't detect anything. I have a spyware program that I'll run now.

Ran my spyware software. It's still happening.
For some reason when I came back from my last trip I noticed my external hard drive was assigned to my comps F drive instead of the E drive. It did this on its own for some reason.
My Music folder is in the external hard drive so I'm guessing my computer doesn't know to look there and thus the error window. Problem is I have no idea how to fix it. I've updated iTunes, no luck.
This is some frustrating shit.

Edit-Preferences-Advanced-General
You can change your iTunes Music folder location there.

Problem is iTunes won't even open for me Spike. There's no way to get to the prefrences menu.
I posted this at the iTunes board and might've found the problem.
When I hooked up my external drive I simply cut and pasted "My Music" folder into the new drive.
Someone told me that folder is a system folder and should not be moved. Thus the problem and probably why my comp has been acting so weird.
Now gotta figure out how to fix it.

Try creating a new My Music folder in the same location as the old one, then copy the desktop.ini file from the My Music folder on your external drive.
(this is just a guess, but it's worth a try)

Recently, i got a message saying that the drivers for burning CDs and importing music were missing, and i had to reload iTunes.
Well, they dont tell you that to reload it, i had to 1)turn my pop-up blocker off 2) uninstall QuickTime 3) then reinstall both QuickTime and iTunes together.
That fixed the problem, but now i load vvvveeerrrryyyy slowly sometimes at .08x speed.
