What happened to the current Hawkman?

I know its hawkgirl now and I sub that. But I wanted to get the issue/series where whatever happened to him.

Could someone point me in the right direction?

Kendra is missing immediately after IC#7. But her book takes place one year later. Presumably she came back in between, and Carter didn't. In which case 52 may contain the answers.

He's still in space fighting the Rann-Thanagar War, which was paused when Alex Luthor's energy hands appeared. The War itself isn't over yet, as indicated by Vandal Savage's explanation upon his reappearance on Earth in JSA Classified, or at the very least, there's still interstellar chaos that requires peacekeeping. Something will go down involving the Hawks during the time period documented in 52, which will presumably also involve Animal Man as both Johns and Morrison want to return him to the big time after his slump in the Vertigo ghetto and limbo.
