For those who have been complaining about Dennis Richards as a scientist, i thought she did something completely different than the usual damsel in destress or heroine! I think she's a good actress, only Tara Reid as a Museum Curator is much worse.

Did Denise Richards get some sort of sex change and change her name to Dennis? :)
As for her work in James Bond movies, well, I don't think she was really there to be a *convincing* Nuclear Physicist in the first place. Her job in the movie was to look like Denise Richards and by that standard she delivered impeccably. Does anyone really go to a Bond movie looking for riveting character portrayals?

I thought Sophie Marcaeu did a good job as the villainess, so Denise Richard's seemed all the more laughable next to that. Still, she's hardly the worst actress to be a Bond girl, and IMO, one of the best looking ones.

"What's wrong with Dennis Richards as a scientist?"
I know! And also, what's wrong with Gilbert Gottfried as a Navy Seal?

The inciting question needs to be put on a T-shirt!
It didn't help that the first time you see her onscreen in the film, she's in a tank top that shows off her midrift, and Daisy Duke shorts. I have no problem with beautiful women playing scientists, but Denise Richards had just done Wild Things for cryin' out loud! Going from teen tartlett to Bond Girl/Nuclear Physicist was a big jump!

I actually feel that TWINE is the most underrated of the Brosnan films. It actually showed Bond as somewhat vulnerable as oppossed to the Ramboesque superhero of TND (and a good chunk of DAD). Plus I felt it was more in the style of the 60's Connery films and OHMSS than the other Brosnan's, which I always felt could have been Roger Moore films. Goldeneye's good of course, but Brosnan is obviously still finding his feet in that film and the soundtrack was pretty bad and has dated compared to the John Barry scores of the previous films.
As for Denise, well, there's dumb or poorly acted Bond girls in even the best films in the series. I feel the film is nicely balanced by Sophie Marceau's Elektra. The Brosnan films, GOLDENEYE excluded (Apart from Minnie Driver's cameo), have had an unfortunate tendency to cast whatever actresses are 'hot'/popular at the moment. TND had Teri Hatcher, pre-HOUSEWIVES but still popular from LOIS AND CLARK; TWINE had Denise Richards, and of course DAD had Halle Berry, although the secondary actresses were mostly unknown (Yeoh, Marceau, Pike etc.). Not that the old films never did this; but it seems far more visible with the Brosnan. Fortunately it seems with CASINO ROYALE they're going back to using mostly unknowns/low-profile actresses as Bond girls.
