I would like to see a supervillain get a book. I don't mean a rogue turned seemingly neutral like Venom, Mystique or Sabretooth, but an outright villain given his or her own book with superheroes taking shots at him or her.

Beast and Wonder Man. Team-Up book, natch. :)

That's an actual mini that's happening soon.

Characters deserving of their own series:

Sentry
Luke Cage and Iron Fist(title would work best if both were in it instead of both going solo)
The Inhumans

"like the Thunderbolts?"

The Thunderbolts aren't hardcore villains, but reformed villains who actually are superheroes.

The problem is that I'm trying to think of a supervillain versatile enough to take on most of the Marvel heroes. Mystique would have been perfect, but given how she was portrayed in her own series and what is going on in "Uncanny X-Men" I can't see using her.

I think the whole villain thing would be hard to make work.
Having said that, a lot of villains could use fleshing out as characters.
So in that spirit, perhaps a villain spot-light book?
Maybe a month of Doom, then a month of the Absorbing man, then the Wizard etc.

I am just not sure that would sell :(

i'd back another Mystique series. she's twice as interesting as a few other female anti-heroes i can think of. as for how she was portrayed in her own series, she carved one of her enemies faces up out of spite and gutted the other.

maybe there should be a Sinister Six title about the six trying to reestablish themselves as major players and insulate themselves from that control-freak Norman Osborn.

1. Doc Ock
2. Electro
3. Vulture
4. Mysterio
5. Sandman
6. ? [Venom, maybe, or a female villain]

They are orphans. What makes Runaways unique is that all the kids are children of supervillains. The only thing we know about Mastermind Excello is he running away from some organization, he's the 7th smartest person on the planet and he has some Action Man-like powers.

all the good Masters are taken, imo. and you'd be stepping on the Thunderbolts toes. that said, i would love to see a new Masters of Evil form and go after any 1st tier hero team. i'm imagining a allegiance between a resurrected-Heike Zemo (beating down Justine Hammer/stealing her cowl), Sin, Spymaster, and Axis Mundi.

that's my point and i do have his only appearance. at any rate, i think he should appear again. btw, i picked the Runaways because they don't have costumes/aren't conventional superheroes. that was the whole point of that issue of Amazing Fantasy.

Depends on who's the writer , the last Surfer book was absolutely awful.

The last mainstream villain books i can recall from any company was Eclipso , he was still downright evil in that book and some of the stuffs he did in that book was really gruesome .

Outright villain books seldom works though.

Super-Skrull seems to be working, although it might benefit from a change of art. i don't know what it is. i hate Skrulls but i like the Super-Skrull. he's just so unashamedly bad. i feel the same way about his big purple 'distant cousin' Thanos.

The problem with the Mystique book is that like a lot of villains who get the spotlight she became more or less a neutral character. She was working with Forge and Charles Xavier and was basically a "lesser of two evils" in her adventures with mostly new characters.

And not to mention that currently she is a probationary member of The X-Men, for goodness sakes.

I'm looking for a supervillain series where the villain not only is the outright bad guy, but (s)he's actually going against big-time superheroes such as Spider-Man, Captain America, She-Hulk, etc. Mystique would have been perfect because of her versatility, but I think Marvel has taken her in another direction.

Ill jump on the cosmic bandwagon.

Ive always been a fan of the cosmic marvel universe.

It seems they are trying to restart it now with Annihilation, im guessing future projects depends on the success of those minis.

Silver surfer deserves his own series, Back to the days of Steve engleheart, Jim Starlin and Ron Marz.

Quasar, and Guardians of the Galaxy kinda made the same mistake in my opinion, while they did a great job coming up with fantastic stories and events the characterization just wasnt quite there.

But id like to see Quasar back in his own series, and ofcourse Adam Warlock.

What is Jim Starlin doing these days?

-Exodus

PS. I dont want to speak ill of the dead, (Quasar creator) Mark Gruenwald was the man.

From Wikipedia:
"Gruenwald was famous for a seemingly near-perfect recollection of even the most trivial details. An annual contest where fans tried to stump him with obscure questions was eventually discontinued by Marvel as it became clear he would never lose.

In 1996, Gruenwald succumbed to an unexpected heart attack. As per his request, he was cremated, and his ashes were mixed with the ink used to print the first trade paperback compilation of Squadron Supreme."

If I was given the reins to a comic book character to do anything I wanted, here are the books I would create:

MYSTIQUE: An ongoing series where Mystique regularly butted heads with various Marvel superheroes. I would take her out of dealing solely with X-characters and revert her back to an outright villain. She's the type of character who would be a great Captain America villain, then she would take on the likes of Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, etc.

THE SHROUD: This is the book I envisioned years ago. What would you do if you were a superhuman double agent? A reputed leader of a gang network who also is trying to work subversively to take them down from the inside. What if you get caught up in the game so much that you can't tell what side you're on? Imagine The Shroud interacting with all the Marvel Universe's street characters in some form or fashion.

APOCALYPSE: I think the character is too far gone now, but if I had him before his resurrection I would remake En Sabah Nur as the gladiator he was before being exposed to the Celestial technology. I would set up a network of allies (Mister Sinister, The Shadow King, The Sphinx), followers (Ozymandias, The Dark Riders with Caliban, Anais, The Sugar Man) and finally a serious set of Horsemen (Holocaust, Omega Red, a new version of Death based on "The Twelve" series and Abyss). Think of "Empire" with the villain moving up the food chain to try to take over the planet.

THE FACTOR: This would be a book inspired by the events of "Civil War." With the emnity between humans and mutants escalating, four villians -- Astra, Exodus, Mimic and Vargas -- take a keen interest in moving along the hostilities. The Factor becomes a power broker in arranging movements that not only lead to the Registration Act, but to consolidate the superhumans into action while trying to ensure themselves absolute power.

THE CHAMPIONS: Why not have a West Coast superhero team? Wonder Man, She-Hulk, Triathlon, Stingray, The Living Lightning and Firebird form their own group (living on Stingray's Hydrobase) based on the 1970s team -- save as former Avengers they will have more cohesiveness.

THE DEFENDERS: Marvel's biggest loners form an alliance to protect the universe from the supernatural, mystical and otherworldly events that threaten everything and their own agendas. Dr. Strange will form a permanent working team of Valkyrie, Cloak and Dagger, Ghost Rider and a new Devil-Slayer. Characters who form the alliance and will help out occasionally will include Blade, The Silver Surfer, Namor, Clea, The Hulk, Moondragon, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Adam Warlock and a mainstream Marvel version of Starhawk.

I'd like to see Sandman get his own series- in which he would be forced to deal with the events that made him 'evil' (yuk) again; taking on those who messed with his head- this would inculde the Wizard, and by extension Thing and Spider-Man.

In the end Sandman could travel through almost all parts of the M.U. Hell -give him a mutant son and he even ties into the X-Men!

And with Spider-Man 3 coming out its time for Sandman's time in the spotlight!

Seconded.

I also agree with the cosmic stuff. I've always been fascinated by Marvel's 'cosmic' crew, moreso than the mutants and superheroes in some instances.

On another note, I'd really like to see Beta Ray Bill get his own on going-ish series. I did read on Wikipedia that he was getting one this December, but... Wikipedia ain't always a reliable fount of info, if you know what I mean.

I was a big fan of Dr. Strange's last run.

He returned to Earth totally depowered--absolutely bereft of all magical powers--and performed a ritual that drew energy from "the syzygy", an astronomical alighnment that generated the energy of "chance, change, and coincidence".

Doc tanked shortly thereafter, as I recall.

Still, he's got some great walk-ons these days as a "special guest star" in other people's books.

Peace,

1.) A good DOC STRANGE series
2.) HAWKEYE (I second a hawkeye series. With hero/villain former avenger cameos
3). EMA FROST, I'm not a huge fan, but Cyclops could use a new role. Frost is in a lot of books right now, but I'd like to see at lest a mini from her perspective.
4.)JUGGERNAUT, I'm not to pleased with his current appearances, another candidate for a mini, nothing more.
5.)THING. Wait, has that been done? It'd be a shame if this series got discontinued.
6.)ZEMO, I'm all up for a masters of evil series, but I'm also digging thunderbolts. If Baron Zemo had to part ways, I'd like to see his further efforts at being a real hero/evil genius. Plus his costume is sweet.
7.) the Adventures of SPEEDBALL.

Characters not ready for a series/mini, but with potential

WINTER SOLDIER (I know, the Jack Monroe nomad series sucked, but if bucky could get more cameos in other comics, I'd be satisfied.)

LUKE CAGE. I'm loving the way this character has been revived, but i think he's perfect where he is. For now

CROSSBONES. If he doesn't die in the current series, which I'm pretty sure he won't, I'd like to see his adventures as a non-powered costumed villain for hire, working for all sorts of big name villains in the MU. Maybe a new form of skeleton crew, or some sort of taskmaster academy for villains comic.

BROTHERHOOD of Evil Mutants. Whatever happened to them? Did they all go hero? Bring back the misguided baddies of yesteryear and show them in a righteous light. This could even be an out-of-time or flashback type thing.

the FALCON.

Mariah

I'd have to say...

Luke Cage-he is the man, shoot, i'd let him back door me:p

Doctor Strange-maybe get those people who wrote magic the gathering or whatever the heck it was called to write this book. I mean, look how long that book lasted(is it still in print?)

Dazzler-give the book more of a real world feel to it, and get her back into the Marvel Universe proper, instead of the x corner of it.

I always thought that there should be a book about some cosmic level characters getting together and forming a team. It could include Silver Surfer, Firelord, Gamora, Nova(now that the corps are all dead) and Photon(Genis).

I also think that Beta Ray Bill should get his own comic, or at least be part of a team.

They did great work on Fantastic Four, so I think they'd do a marvelous job rendering all the dysfunction that made Kurt Buseik and Erik Larsen's volume so great. Then again, I might be the only person here who liked that run on the title.

But yeah. I loved the Defenders and would definitely drop some cash on a new ongoing about them.

Don't you mean, "Batroc, zee Leapair!"

My picks: We need the Son of Satan back in his own series again.

And Morbius.

And Man-Thing.

And Ben Reilly. In Los Angeles. As the Scarlet Spider.

Marvelman
The Sentry (going back to his original MK roots)
The Defenders (Nighthawk, Valkyrie, Gargoyle, Hellcat, Son of Satan, Blazing Skull + some, all or just occasional appearances by the "big 4")
The Celestials (they don't necessarity have to be the stars of this book but I've got to see more of them & get deeper into what makes them tick)
Captain Universe (maybe tied into the one above)

Simon Williams. but acting like a self-assured bruce campbell-esque pseudo celebrity this time. and finding a costume that doesn't make me wince. definately needs to be more modern looking and acting. his rogues gallery needs an overhaul too. no one needs to leave. but a bunch of them could use costume redesigns. speaking of that, we need someone impressive on art. what's that guy's name who is drawing all of the Red Hulk stuff? i like his stuff; McGuiness, i think? i liked how he drew Leonard Samson. i think he'd be great on a Wonder Man book. anyways, Simon would basically be bouncing back from imprisonment. he's building his rep back up from scratch; taking on all comers (hulk levelers). and he's a little bitter towards the Avengers; for casting him off.

whoops. i mentioned an artist but neglected the writing. tone-wise, i need someone like PAD handling Simon. the kind of dark humor you find in X-Factor would benefit Simon greatly.

yikes, i've been looking through Simon's rogues gallery. not much to write home about. Splice (kind of a generic name but oh well) or Angkor could be salvageable. for Splice i could see him ooking sort of like the movie-ized version of racer x but keeping his classic weaponry and having a motorcycle helmet-like face mask(or the Kroenen look). he's going to need a replacement for Goliath; someone w/ that level of a grudge. Tyrak and Ultimo seem useful for cred building fights.

What you're talking about is the Wonder Man book that Gerard Jones was writing in the 90s. It was more focused on the Wonder Man Hollywood persona and it was more humour-centric.

Not the Wonder Man I prefer but oh well...

i really would like to see Cloak & Dagger getting an ongoing book. I guess it won't happen any time soon, but that would be my biggest wish for a marvel title. I think both are such interesting characters with great powers.

Pete Wisdom and Damien Hellstorm. Also if they could bring back Wonder Man like how his book was in the 90's would be awesome.:biggrin:

Mimic(with original costume)

A mix of traditional heroics and offbeat super-hero stories such as Millar & Morrison did with their now defunct series Aztek.

This.

A new Cloak & Dagger ongoing has been at the top of my Marvel Wish List for several years now, but I also don't see it ever happening. Howard The Duck will get a new ongoing before Cloak & Dagger will, IMO...

Others in my list:
-Silver Sable
-Black Cat
-Bishop (pre-Messiah CompleX) & Sage
-Mantra (from the old Ultraverse that Marvel acquired in the '90s)
-Red She-Hulk

I'd reverse the numbering on that. Plus Ares is dead and I'm not a fan of Pym.
