With all the talk about Batman needing to kill Joker I can't help but wonder. Has the Joker not also had opportunities to kill Batman as well? I don't really have many significant Joker appearences since I don't care much for him,but it seems he would have had the chance to put a few bullets in Batman and ended him by now. I ask because they've gone against each other so many times it'd be pretty pathetic if Joker has never had Batman in real danger.

I believe Batman should be willing to kill but I can understand why he's not written to go killing off his best villains(for those who feel Joker qualifies...) same as they aren't allowed to kill him. Even though realistically Batman shouldn't last 2 weeks after the Bat symbol was shone for every psychopath in Gotham to see. If the Joker has never had the oppourtunity to kill Batman I know many others have.

Sure, Joker's had opportunities. Because he views Batman as his arch enemy, though, he wouldn't consider it a worthy kill unless it was done in a very grandiose fashion. For the Joker this usually means putting Batman in some elaborate death trap, which usually buys Batman the time he needs to think of a way to escape.

Read Mad Love for a good example of this.

On the same token he has NO interest in who is behind the mask. The MASK is what he wants to beat. The moment He knows he's Bruce Wayne, then Batman becomes just another person, and it isn't any fun ::(

In the "Emperor Joker" storyline, the Joker had godlike powers (stolen from Mr. Mxyzptlk) which he used to continuously kill Batman and bring him back to life. And the funny thing was...he couldn't NOT bring him back to life. Every single time Joker tried to kill Batman for good (even erasing his existence from the timeline at one point), he subconsciously had to bring him back.

It's simple, really... Joker sees Batman like a favourite toy: once you break it, you can't play with it any more...

Back in death in the family, the Joker stared at Wayne for a loooooooong time, just grinning. I think he sort of knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman, but at the same time, that's not how he wants to play the game.

Exactly. Joker loves his confrontations with Batman, and doesn't want the fun to end by killing/unmasking him. On some levels, he may not even be aware of how much he needs these duels, but the need is definitely there.

It should be noted the Joker doesn't take very nice care of his things.
