Wacky 50s fun using some of Marvel's swingingest forgotten heroes.

Looks like it could be a lot of fun. A little risky perhaps from a publishing standpoing - Interman's got some level of cache, but not a huge amount, and Leonard Kirk has alwasy struck me as a really good, if somewhat less than superstar, artist. So this is probably going to be a great book and a fun read, but I'm wondering how it's going to work exactly from a sales perspective.

Sounds like 'NextWave 2'. :D

I doubt it's going to be anywhere near as wacky. If it's wacky at all.

Considering the cast, it will probably be more wacky. :)

I love these obscure 50's characters, so I'm definitely in on this one. Their What If appearance is one of my favourite issues.
It's a shame that 3-D Man won't be appearing in the book, though. I'd love to see him return to the MU.

Why exactly? Other than he's an obscure character, and therefore Marvel is evil for not giving him his own book?
Seriously though, never understood the appeal of the character, and I read the original issues. One of the worst looks of all time.

Who said anything about giving him his own book? He's been established in the What If issue and Avengers Forever as a member of the 50's Avengers team that also all of the characters appearing in this book. I enjoyed his original appearance in Marvel Premiere and the What If story, so I'd like to see him make another appearance.

Sorry, I was overreacting for no particular reason. Everyone has their own little things for minor characters. But I did kind of wonder what in particular you found appealing about 3D.

This is cool news!
I have been wanting to see these characters since their What If... appearance!
Its a shame they are making this contempory - a 50's set series might be a good read with plently of Cold War paranoia, teenage/young adult Magneto and Xavier, first appearances of Juggernaut, replacement Capt Americas/Bucky, and of course the formation of Weapon X and other programs that impact the later M.U.
And this is without messing up 'Marvel Time'!!

There ar eloads of cool characters they could have included...liek the Blodne Phantom...Marvels first female to have her own title
I doubt this will be wacky as im guessing the bidea of the series is to contemporise them to fit into the Marvel U...which is a cool idea.

3-D Man won't be appearing because he wasn't an Atlas hero. He first appeared in the mid-70's run of Marvel Premiere, and was effectively retconned into Marvel's 50's.

Between this new project, Nextwave, Marvel Team-Up, Beyond, and Heroes For Hire, its good to see Marvel utilizing a lot of their more obscure characters. When do we get a Shroud comeback? Looks like some good fun!

I started wondering the same thing not long after the buildup to Moon Knight's return started. I always Liked Shroud; thought he had some real potential as a character.

This is one of the few Marvel series I are really stoked for.
Pretty cool 50's vibe, and Lord knows we don't get to see enough cool pre-Marvel characters.
Looks good...

y'know what i don't like about the Shroud? it's those g-damn darkforce powers. the darkforce is as overexposed as Wolverine. i wouldn't mind him training Cassie St.Commons to be the new Shroud though.
oh and while i'm on my soap box, i think Delroy Garrett should become the new 3D Man and wear the old 3D Man's costume so his race isn't so much an issue.

It's all good.
Part of my fondness for 3D Man can be attributed to Steve Rude's rendition of the character from the original Marvel Handbook from the 80's. For some reason, I liked the look of the character, so I tracked down his appearances in Marvel Premiere and What If.
I love 50's sci-fi, and I enjoy slightly offbeat characters. 3D Man appeals to me on those levels. I also look at him as the kind of character that someone like Grant Morrison could really play with (much like his Doom Patrol, Animal Man and 7 Soldiers work).

True, but I still would have enjoyed seeing him there. Either way, I'll definitely be checking this series out.
