didn't want to spoil anything, so we're limiting out "last minute look" to just one new preview page:

ooooohhhhh.
When you assume you make an ass out of u and me
First thing I thought of (for some reason) was Shrek, saying "I'm nobodys messenger boy, I'm a delivery boy!"

Why do they always talk that way when they want cap to do something... unsavory? I prefer the direct Cable vs. Deadpool Fury to Cap dialogue.
But dudes, am I ever excited!

I was too. I had sworn off crossovers since the late 80s. But, this one was too appealing. I am not collecting them all, just the Civil War mini and my regular pulls. But, i did give in to the mini. Oh, and the Daily Bugle thing. And illuminati, but that's an Avengers' title after all.

This isn't fair. This is literally torture for me. I am such a comic geek but oh well. I'm dying to get this started. I can't believe I will have to wait until at least next weekend to get this issue.

That scene reminded me of a section of a Terry Pratchett book, Witches Abroad.
Nanny Ogg put her hand over her eyes. Asking someone to repeat a phrase you'd not only heard very clearly but were also exceedingly angry about was around Defcon II in the lexicon of squabble.

Probably because A) the people who try to order Cap around are probably a bit more hawkish than Cable, and B) c'mon, they're trying to order around Captain America! Odds are, they don't even really think they have the right to order around the Living Legend of WWII, and the only way they can build up the courage to do so is to do it full balls to the wall. Cable is already sort of a legend in his own time, so he has a bit more of the psyche for it.

especially after I read HoM I was adament about not collecting anymore Crossovers like that, but here I am a day away from the release of Civil War and I have ordered every issue thus far!
I am extremely excited, the story seems like it is going to be awesome and I really want to see the repercussions that are left throughout the MU.

McNiven has come so far from what he was doing at Crossgen. I loved his stuff on Meridian but his Civil War stuff looks outstanding.
I'm looking forward to Cap taking some SHIELD agents apart.

This is actually looking to be the first massive crossover that's any good since the first "Secret War".
That said, if Marvel drops the ball on this one, I'm gonna be one pissed puppy.
Pax.
