I didn't see a thread for this last week so I figured I'd start one (better late than never, eh?)

Invincible #31 - Let me preface this by saying that I'm an unapologetic Kirkmaniac - especially when it pertains to this book or The Walking Dead. After the big space epic, everything about this book was perfect to me. It's great that Mark is back on Earth and interacting with most of his supporting cast. I'm excited about all of the sub-plots going forward. The writing was great, the art from Ottley and Rathburn was beautiful and Bill Crabtree knocks it out of the park with the coloring (especially the Africa scenes). I say this every time, but the next issue can't come soon enough.

The Thing #6 - I fear that I won't see 12 issues of this book. Slott wraps up the Yancy Street storyline and has a good time needling Spidey about the Iron Spidey suit. I already miss DiVito's art (it was a big draw for me) but Kieron Dwyer is a decent replacement.

Captain America 65th Anniversary Special - If it involoves Brubaker writing Cap, then I'm going ot buy it. A very fast, set in WWII read. I'm looking forward to revisiting this storyline line in the main book in the future.

Catwoman #54 - Here is the best part about not having deep-seated affinity for characters before OYL - the change is good and I don't have much ground to stand on when arguing that the book was better before OYL. My favorite of the jump books so far.

Ex Machina Special #1 - It's been a while since I've read a book that contained Chris Sprouse art. Solid stuff and it's nice to see a straight forward Great Machine superhero story for once.

The Amazing Spider-man #531 - I'm really ready for Civil War and the return of Ron Garney!

Astonishing X-Men #14 - So far, this arc is not hitting me like the first two did. Maybe it's the bi-monthly schedule, maybe it's the lack of action. Whatever it is, I think that I may self-trade this book now.

Birds of Prey #93 - Damn you Gail Simone! (raises fist to the air angrily!) Once again, she has taken a character that I never really cared for (Lady Shiva), added her to the team and created an exciting storyline for me to read. Still not too thrilled about the new art team though...kind of boring to me.

Savage Dragon #125 - The lettering is getting better. I loved The Fly story. I have the ashcan of The Wish that I bought at Wonder-con 2005 and it was cool to see it colored in this book. This was my favorite issue of Savage Dragon released this year.

SOLO #10: Skip it. Trust me on this. I can't even read it. Of course, I'm a white boy from the suburbs, and Damion Scott warns me from the top that this likely won't be my thing. "My thing" usually include legible art and coloring that looks like it didn't come from a first grader's magic markers. To each his own.

The Robin short done in his old style is pretty good, though, but not worth the entire price of admission.

Wow, this new forum software is sucking all over the place. I can't bold text with a button press. I couldn't write this response without quoting the text of the message I was replying to. (I deleted it before typing, don't worry.)

i'll just mention Star Wars: Clone Adventures Vol. 5, and i think this was the best of the series yet! I loved seeing Bail Organa freeing Shaak Ti and the final bit about the Outcasts. Would love to see them in the main Star Wars comics!

Wow, this new forum software is sucking all over the place. It's eating all of my carriage returns (or is it linefeeds?) too. I'm going to have to past a BR on the end of every line.
The One Trick Rip Off - I much prefered this to Heavy Liquid. That said, much as I like his art, I'm still unconvinced by Paul Pope's writing

Oversight (bathroom book) - This collection of Philip Hester's short stories was a bit of a dissapointment for me. Pretty much none of the stories in the first half did anything for me. It gets better in the 2nd half though and the final story, Boneshaker (a 60 page existantialist wrestling space opera) was fantastic

JLA: Syndicate Rules - meh

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Pale Reflections - Buffy comics are never particularly great (except Tales of the Slayers and Tales of the Vampires), but the Andi Watson ones are good fun. This is the volume that finishes off his storyline. It's very annoying how they saw fit to release them as 3 issue TPBs though
