What are some mini arcs/stories or whatever that have good riddler and clayface stories in them? Please just give me the batman title and issue numbers if you can.

I always thought those guys were pretty cool in batman tas but I never was a big batman reader so I never really saw them in the comics.

Thanks.

There is an excellent issue of Secret Origins that tells the origins of all four Clayfaces. When you look it up I think its called "Secret Origins- the Mud Pack."

My favourite Clayface story is in Detectice Comics, around 604 - 607 or so, which involves the three surviving Clayfaces. Incidentally, part 3 of 4 was the first comic I bought when I started collecting as a kid.

Riddler
I think Dark Knight, Dark City was the name of the best Riddler. Can't remember.
Run, Riddler, Run
The Riddle Factory

Clayface
I honestly can't name a Clayface story where he's the main character.
 Hush and some others come to mind but he wasn't the main. TAS and Batman Adventures I think did a better job with him that the normal DCU.

I entirely agree with this! This is a fantastic story by Grant and Breyfogle. All Clayfaces are involved.

If you can, get this "Mud Pack" 4-parter from DETECTIVE, and also the SECRET ORIGINS issue (it's #44) mentioned by Dustin Griffin -- it's dedicated to the origins of the four Clayfaces, and was published just before the 4-parter. Great stuff!

gotta agree with you herre. and the TAS did a better job with nearly EVERY Batman villian. especially the Riddler and Clayface. however, "Run, Riddler, Run" (a story by Gerard Jones, I think) is one of the best ones I can remember.

Theres more than one clayface? Hell maybe I shouldnt read that, I would be lost. Matt haygan was only clayface I knew, thats the original one I think.

The best Riddler stories were in the B:TAS comics.

Seriously.

one of the best Riddler showings in comics I can remember was written by Ty Templeton for the BTAS comics spin off.. it was called "Gotham Knights" or something like that. don't remember exactly... but the plot was that the Riddler decides to use riddles to implicate other criminals of THEIR crimes rather than giving himself away. it was actually nicely done, even if it was aimed at little kids. it made me wish they'd adapted it for the actual cartoon!

wait....

Batman Gotham Adventures #11

by Templeteon Burchett and some other dude I can't remember. but it was a great little comic.

The 4 part Mud Pack story in Detective Comics is a great Clayface story... with awesome Norm Breyfogle art!

Dark Knight, Dark City is (IMO) the best Riddler story. Ever.

So is that dark city just a single issue story?

And is that mud pack the origin of the other clayfaces? I dont mind reading it, but if they have already been established I might be missing out on something.

Thanks for the suggestions by the way. Im going to get run riddle run for sure.

The fantastic Dark Knight Dark City is a 3 part story. They seriously need top do a TPB collecting Pete Milligan's Batman stories

The Mudpack is four parts and IIRC has the first 3 Clayfaces in it and is the origin of the 4th Clayface

Mud Pack has all four Clay Faces (but #2 is dead) in it. #1 is a normal human who unites the others to attack Batman, but really wants to steal blood samples and infuse himself with their abilities. #3 and #4 fall in love and fly away together (pretty cool) afterwards, while #1 burns a hole in the ground and sinks deep into the ground. I think there's a joke in there about "alert China".

There's a fair bit to the revenge on Batman plot - it's a good read.

Riddle Me That by Shane McCarthy (Legends of the Dark Knight 185-189). Very underrated Riddler story.

Mud Pack is the best story with Clayfaces. But i show you one more - LotDK 89-90, "Clay". This is and origin story about Clayface.

About Riddler - I prefer LotDK 109-111 and Detective Comics annual #8, where Dixon show an excellent origin of Riddler.

I remember "Dark Knight, Dark City" being a dark interpretation of the Riddler. Didn't he try to choke a baby by putting a ping-pong ball in it's mouth?

Yeah, though I hesitate to provide spoilers for it because it's a pretty great Riddler story.

Before I read Run Riddler Run, which is cool, I had only known Gerard Jones from his really good English language adaptations of Takahashi's work, which is a totally different kind off deal but also fun. :D

Sort of - though I think it was a golf ball. It's more complicated than that though.

Personally, I HATED that arc.

I think that the Riddler in the Loeb/Sale books is the best.
