They was on the same meeting in a All star comic from the 40s at least.
But i guess they did not begin to team up for real until they decided to do that in World's finest comics, to save money on the fewer pages, before that they always had one story each but to keep the 10c prize the page count needed to be cut down.

In the Silver Age, didn't someone establish that as juveniles, Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent had teamed up more than once? I have no idea in which issue their first "juvenile" teamup story was told, though . . . but in that case, in Earth-1 continuity Superboy and Bruce would have known each other before they ever started using the names Superman and Batman at all!

So it looks like, with lots of retconning and rebooting going on, they must have had:
A First First Meeting
A Second First Meeting
A Third First Meeting
A Fourth First Meeting
Et cetera, as each new "flashback" story replaced a previous version of how they had "first met, once upon a time" :)

yes it's a lot of storys when they are kids and team up, so i don't know who will be the first team up if you count those.

I just keep things simple and refer to this book:

Both Batman and Superman have appeared numerous times together on the covers to 'World's Finest' for years but never teamed up or met in any of those stories. It wasn't until the May/June issue of Superman (issue 76) from 1952 that they actually meet for the very first time.

I bought it a few years ago on eBay and it totally rocks. Back then, comics were about the size of today's magazines.

It was always strange to me that it took from 1938-52 for them to meet, yet Namor and the Torch were beating up on each other within the first year or 2 of their creations over at Timely.

I think it was just a completely new concept at the time

And does anyone have anything on the first time they threw down? The first time they fought, or anything resembling that? I'm just interested.
