I've heard plans for both a Namor film (Mmm...Namor) and a Magneto film as well, both for 2008 or something. I could look it up, but I'm lazy. I'm pretty sure there is a link to some info off Namor's page on Wikipedia.

Are you KIDDING me? I cna see if a mix of him using Giant Man, and Ant helmet, but not sole Ant Man, that and well Scot lang Ant Man gets cool pyro tech.
Hank Pym, well is a jerk, and really more of a Avengers team meber.. (As I doubt he could defat Ultron by himself.)

Why on earth are they coming out with a Nick Fury and and Ant-Man movie? Iron Man is enough of a stretch. Give me a break.

Wolverine (the guy who did The Hill Have Eyes remake is directing it)
Shang-Chi (Ang Lee is directing this!) and Iron Man, if it looks good.

No he isn't. He's just directing. Yuen Wo Ping is directing in his American directorial debut. And I am praying he can talk Donnie Yen into playing Shang Chi. He's the perfect choice. He even speaks English perfectly.

This (http://www.superherohype.com/news/ironmannews.php?id=3600) was the last dedicated article on Superhero Hype for any Iron Man development. Nothing else has been posted there, except there could be some random bits in other articles.
IMDB has a listing for Iron Man in 2007, but I wouldn't count on that at all.

See now, I watched it the other day on TV, expecting to see a whole ungodly mess based on the internet reaction.
I quite enjoyed it.
The dynamic between Thing and Torch was good. The plot was decent. The script was decent.
I found it a fairly solid, quite enjoyable, no brainer two and a bit hours of film.
I can understand the thing about Doom, but that hardly detracts from the whole film.
Seriously, its a million miles better than Superman IV.

I know, right. For me, it served its purpose of establishing the characters as a family and them dealing with being public superheroes. It was a nice change from all these dark, brooding loner superhero movies. And it was fun for kids.
It could have been better in regards to Doom, and making the battle with him a bit more eventful, but other than that, I thought it was a good movie. Nowhere near as bad as people want to make it out to be.

So Favreau is adapting and directing Iron Man, a Hulk sequel is in the works, Ant-Man is being developed by Simon Pegg, Nick Fury is being written by the dude who did Air Force One, and Cap is being done by the dude who did Road to Perdition.
But since Iron Man has an actual director, let the casting madness begin!!!

And as for the Hulk thing, yeah, but I don't think a writer had been named yet. Granted, it ain't crap till there's a director. And even then, it really ain't crap till there's a cast.

Cameron? The man who pioneered the use of CGI and digital actors? He only builds real sets, so he can talk his female actors into having sex on them.
But seriously, Favreau is an interesting pick as a director. Not necessarily whom I would have thought of, but stil could be very good, assuming the material is solid and the casting works. And just because I always bring him up as Iron Man,

That said, I think his time to be Tony has probably past. Especially if you are looking to make sequels. Clooney seems to now be more into making movies that no one sees but everyone loves. And he may be getting a tad long in the tooth to be making action films with potential sequels.
So, age appropriate actor, capable of doing the whole billionaire playboy industrialist who either has a compassionate heart or gains one when his is replaced by a robot. Bonus points if they look good in a mustache. Keep in mind, they'd be off screen a good chunk of the time, although a smart director would use the "Naked Viewscreen" approach Bendis has been using in New Avengers to increase screen time while using the armor.
This might be a bit outside the box, and would probably never happen, but since Stark was based on Howard Hughes, Leo DiCaprio?

Those are some things i've heard.
1) I thought the first Fantastic Four was a good popcorn movie, so I'm looking forward to the sequel.
2) Sorry, couldn't care less about a Nick Fury movie.
3) See Nick Fury
4) While I thought Ant-Man was a great character when I was a kid, I can't help but think an Ant-Man movie is a really really bad idea.
5) Will Spider-Man even bother to put on his mask this film?
6) No comment.
7) If we're talking about the animated movie, you're right, it does look crappy.
Other Marvel movie thoughts:
8) I'm still looking forward to a Magneto movie.
9) I'm still looking forward to a possible Wolverine trilogy.
10) Still not interested in Ghost Rider
11) Dwayne Johnson as Namor? Can you say direct to DVD?

It has to do with what the Movie companies can get the rights to. A Nick Fury Movie could work. People already wacth a TV show with a Fury like character except his name is Jack.
As for the Ultimate Avengers animated movie I don't see that much wrong with it. You got to reminder that Marvel sees the Ultimate Universe as the gateway to comics.
Fox is talking about doing a Wolverine movie.
It is highly unlikely there will be a live action Avengers movie since it's an all-star team with the rights to the mojor characters already taking by diffrent studios.

Not any more. Looks like Marvel has the rights to most of the Avengers characters again. But it's still not cost effective, given you could make one Avengers movie that will be overly cluttered, not give characters enough screen time, etc, or you could make a Cap movie, a Thor movie, an Iron Man movie, etc., and make cash on each.

Here are movies that Marvel will be making: www.http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/648/6488076p1.html
Note: Newsarama had a better report on this but I was unable to find it. I believe the deal also says that any movie deal Marvel had with other studios that expire the movie when then be put under their deal with Paramount which means the only movie that Marvel doesn't have under this deal yet(besides the movies that FOX and Soney have like X-men, Spider-Man, FF etc) is Thor. The deal that Marvel has with the Studio that is suppose to be doing Thor is almost up which means they will soon have the rights to all the Avengers under one Studio.
Plus, there is also suppose to be a Luke Cage movie that will star Tyrese that I heard should be coming out next year.

Hello everyone i was reading Wizard today and had some thoughts about some movies possibly coming out
1. The Avengers Who would the group be in this one? There planning a Captain America movie and Iron Man. Now i heard Tom Cruise may play Iron Man. With him and possibly another big star playing Captain America do you think theyll be able to pull off making this movie. Assuming Iron Man and Captain America are on the team.
2. Do we really need a Hawkeye movie?? I love this character but just not on his own. I just think theyre getting a little crazy with the movies therye making. I personally would not go to see an Iron Fist movie. Which is also rumoured.
3. Ant-Man any thought on how this one would be?? Im a fan of his but i still think he'd be better of with the Avengers and i dont think many people would be interested.
Any thoughts???

Would be good to have an Avengers film series similar to the x-men movies, with the same actors as the other Marvel films, Toby Maguire as spidey, Hugh Jackman as wolvie, Downey JR as Iron Man. But i think that will never happen. I dont really like the idea of lots of movies about the charecters on their own.
Hmmm X-men 4? I watched Xmen 3 again last night and i dont really like the idea for a fourth. If Xavier comes back played by another actor then that would be dumb but a fourth cant really be made with Stewart in as his body was destroied. Also without jean and scott this movie will lack allot of the main x-men. However, introduce Emma Frost, Gambit, Cannonball, Cable and Bishop, add them to the team and this could be a good movie.
I also think Magneto will be a changed man in 4, maybe side with the x-men and fight a bigger threat such as Onslaught? or maybe Sentinels? Has anything been said about xmen 4 yet?

05-09-2007, 04:59 AM
Supposedly 2009, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Captain America is a really hard sell in the international market. ;) So the studio is likely to give it a limited budget (because it can't count on recouping its' investment in the international market), or Captain America will be so de-Americanized that the whole point is lost. :p
He's a guy that wraps himself in an American Flag to fight evil. That's going to be a polarizing kind of thing regardless of the fact that Cap doesn't represent any sort of current political ideologies or administration's actions.
Heck, a bunch of those self-hating Americans will probably refuse to go see the movie too. :p

Fox hires a screenwriter for Silver Surfer and gets a new draft of Magneto
Even before he makes his big screen debut in the upcoming Fantastic Four sequel, Fox already has TV and comic book writer J. Michael Straczynski writing a script for the Silver Surfer spin off movie.
The L.A. Times is reporting that Straczynski , who has penned episodes of Babylon 5 and The Twilight Zone is currently writing the screenplay despite recent universal critical comic book movie bashing. Will FF2 and Surfer be as critic proof as the first FF movie and Ghost Rider? It seems that Fox is betting yes.
Also, word has trickled in from the Fox lot that a new draft of Magneto has been submitted to the powers that be. Fox is in a hurry to get these productions off the ground. Stay tuned for more info as it comes in.

Actually, Marvel was never producing any of those. You have to remember how these things work. Marvel never produced any of those. They sold the rights to big movie studios.
Spider-man and Ghost Rider is at Sony. Daredevil, Elektra, X-men, and Fantastic Four is at Fox. Punisher is at Lions Gate.
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchises/chart/?id=marvelcomics.htm
Marvel doesn't even have the say of whether or not these films get sequels, the studios they sold the rights to do. Until those rights expire, any sequels are out of Marvel's hands.
Of course, all that is different now that Marvel took out that giant loan to fund their own films. I believe they still go to a studio for distribution, but they're now trying to make their own films. It's a while new era.
Marvel is producing Iron Man. They also got back the rights for Hulk movies. Not sure where Blade is, but the franchise is rather dead.

Not sure where Blade is, but the franchise is rather dead.my point was that so far none of these films had any progress and is still "in development"...marvel's only sure bet is the proven franchises apparently.which is basically x-men,F4,spider-man,and maybe, iron man and,the hulk.as far as blade goes avi arad once said their MIGHT be a 4th blade film.but other than that marvel hasn't really goten anything moving except sequels to their main franchises.

Sigh. Did you read my post at all?
Of course, Marvel hasn't moved on except for sequels to their main franchises. Even with those they themselces can't move because they don't have the rights. They can only wait for the stuidios to greenlight those movies.
Marvel can't touch Spider-man and the others I menioned. They can only wait for the studios they sold the rights to make crappier and crappier sequels.. er.. I mean more movies. Not sure how long those contracts gave the studios the rights to those characters.
Only now they're moving on Iron Man and Hulk. With Iron Man they never sold the rights to and with Hulk they got the rights back from Universal. Marvel can move on stuff like those and Captain America and Thor and Ant Man. They have started their own movie company / division to get those movies made. Now is the time of the second Marvel renessance. It's early and Marvel hasn't realized a single film on their own yet.
Iron Man should be the first one out of the gate. Once they start making more money, they can make more Marvel movies. All simple economics really.

if marvel has the rights to Cap, Iron Man, Thor , Hulk and antman...why not just toss in a Scarlet Witch, Wasp,Vision, Hawkeye and Quicksilver and make the greatest damn Comic book movie of all time???????

That's the plan. But they have to make Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk and Ant-Man movies and some of them have to do well (i'm guessing at least three of them).
If they do an Avengers movie they should leave Scarlet Witch, Vision, Hawkey and Quicksilver out of it.
Save them for a Avengers 2.

Actually, I belive Quesada has said they want to do individual character movies first.. and then put them together for an Avengers movie. That is pretty awesome.
As more of a JLA fan, I am jealous as hell and wish to God DC had their act together so they could do that. Well, I guess the cartoon is the closest we'll get.

1. Ironman(2008)
We've seen the designs, concepts, prodection stills, and even a live suit. It's coming out next year for sure.
2. Incredible Hulk(2008)
They've been particularly quiet with this one, but they already have started filming. I'm not sure if they will make their 2008 deadline, but it definately will be out by 2009.
3. Silver Surfer(?)
Marvel just gave the go ahead for a film about him after the showing success of "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". It may be a long time, but Marvel is definately interested.
4. Captain America(?)
This one has definately been a struggled one, but Avi's working on it. It'll probably be out by 2015, but there's no real guarentee.
5. Ghost Rider 2(?)
Marvel has already confirmed that after the success of the first one, they will go ahead and make a trilogy. There have been uncomfirmed rumors that Vengeance will make the screen. It's expected to hit by 2010.
6. Ghost Rider 3(?)
Like I just said, Marvel's working on a trilogy. This one has no possible date.
7. Avengers(?)
Believe it or not, Marvel wants to try it. It might be a ridiculously long time before it happens, but there was already confirmation that it will happen. Names of the members has not been told yet.
8. Spider-Man 4(?)
There was already expression for a fourth movie. Marvel even said that they are making 4, 5, and 6! Thing is though, that after some dispute, four may be the only one, and that one may not even happen.
9. Spider-Man 5(?)
Depends on how the dispute works out.
10. Spider-Man 6(?)
Depends how the dispute works out.
11. Fantastic Four 3(?)
After the increasing succession of "Rise of the Silver Surfer", Marvel believes that it's the right time to start another one. No confirmation of the villain. There were rumors that Annihilus would appear in the third film, but they have not been proven. Still, the rumors of Galactus and the Silver Surfer were right..........
12. Wolverine(2009)
After Wolverine's lone popularity as a movie hero, Marvel has decided to make a movie in which Wolverine, like in the comics, goes solo. There have been rumors that the "Death of a Bride" storyline will be used.
13. Magneto(2009)
Magneto is a villain that has many stories to him, and enough to make his own stand alone film. Hoping that the idea will ride on the popularity of the X-Men franchise, Marvel has decided to make a film about Magneto as a child, and how he and Xavier became enemies. One anticipated item that Marvel has promised to show is how they began the "Mutant War" originally.
14. Punisher 2(?)
It's hard to see where this one stands, but Marvel has shown interest in reviving Thomas Jane's role as the violent vigilante known as the Punisher. It is believed that this will be where Punisher gets his long time partner and will face off against Jigsaw.
15. Thor(?)
There are definately some bugs trying to be worked out, but the idea. is there. Besides, Matthew Vaughn is already in talks about it.

I'm not a big fan of the Ultimate Nick Fury. But this could be cool. Especially if he appears in other Marvel films.

I'm actually a little excited that there featuring Ultimate Nick Fury in "Iron Man", if the rumors are true that is. It'll be cool if they start to connect all the films through that one character.

Yeah. That's Warners. You saw how well they put together a Superman film after.. oh.. ten years of attempts. From Tim Burton and Nic Cage starting production and spending millions on a never made film. Then a lull. Then Smith writing a capeless and flightless Superman for Jon "Who the f### is Kal El" Peters. Then we finally got Deadbeat Pouty Emo Superman with his Bastard Son.
Hell, even DC Comics itself can't get a Wonder Woman book right, nevermind Warners getting a movie right.
Well, there's always the direct to video animated movies like New Frontier from Timm & company.
Anyway, Marvel has got its movie act so much better together than DC. Sure their bigger names like Spider-man are tied up at Sony and other, but they've started their own production company. That's awesome.

That's not a dispute. Raimi said they will make sequels with or without him (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5536).
In all honesty it's way too early to worry about Spider-man 4. We probably won't hear anything definate until after the DVD comes out.

If money is an issue they will make a new one with a new director and cast. They could easily make another Spider-man movie that has the budget of the first one. Maybe not two or three years from now but I say after 4-5 year break Sony will start doing Spider-man again.
I mean if Warner Bros managed to make another Batman movie after Batman and Robin I can't see why Sony would stop doing Spider-man. Especially since the third one made over 800 million worldwide.

Anyway. That anger was definately directed at DC. If you've followed their developments for stuff like Superman or Green Lantern for years, you might know where I'm coming from. Some of the stupid ideas that were put forward are just mind boggling.
Anyway, long story short, I'm rather amazed at how well Marvel has its act together now and I can only wish DC had similar control.
