I'm gonna get both. Can't expect me to choose between the two....

The George Perez cover reminds me of why I got into superhero comics in the first place.

And the Jim Lee cover is quite cool too. :)

Holy cow! In the Perez cover, Wonder Woman is kicking some guy right in the twig and berries.

Pun intended.

I really don't want to buy the same issue twice, i said that was too geeky for me..........but God, i think I'll have to.

I'm getting the Perez version, just because I love it so darn much.

Though, how can the Daily Planet afford insurance on the globe, only Mr. Stern knows. ;)

Wait a minute...I see Bane there...

Yes Bane made his appearance in the Villains United issue along with Doomsday! Too bad I don't see Doomsday on these covers.

Also, I am getting both covers I have gotten both since the start just the collecting instinct in me.

The VU IC Special...

Damn, I walked into that one. I haven't read it yet...

Is that Jack Knight hanging off the building right behind Mary Marvel's left arm?

Both are to nth degree of awesome. Yet, on the Lee cover....who secretly hopes G'Nort is the person to end the reign of SBP?

I'm going to have to buy both. The first time out of the seven issues I haven't had a firm favourite. Both great, and both complimenting each other too - one showing the Green Lantern corps' face-off with SPB in space and the other with all the villains/heroes fighting it out in Metropolis.

I think its going to be a really sad issue. Final fate of E2 Superman?

I think the Perez cover looks noticably worse colored. Maybe it's the scan.

Or maybe you just love the color green?

Anyone else think Robin pulled the short straw on that cover?

"Ok Robin, looks like you get Bizzaro"

anyone else laugh at slade getting a sore jaw on the cover? no. . okay. but I did, that and batman punching out that aquaman badguy (i forgot his name. I don't read aquaman, I just remember him from the cartoon and then randomly in green arrow once I think).

Indeed.

And I mean, c'mon...Batman vs. Black Manta? Is this *really* a fair fight?

If you look carefully, Robin isn't really taking on Bizarro by himself. Bizarro just punched the hell out of Steel, who got smacked all the way to the other side of the cover.

Hee...lots of mismatches on the cover.

Floronic Man is no match for Wonder Woman. Sinestro should have little problems with Star Girl, Lady Quark is useless against Dr. Light, etc.

Yes Batman is fighting Black Manta (Aquaman Villain) and Aquaman is fighting Bane (Batman Villain) pretty neat.

On the Perez cover where is Superman? 2/3 of the Big Three are present Batman and Wonerwoman hell you could argue 3/4 of the Big four are present if you add Aquaman to the mix. But, where is Superman during this scene?

On Lee's cover fighting Superboy Prime.

Well Putting SBP against the Green Lantern Core means he can go back to he wreckless punching through people with reckless abandon without having a huge impact on the DCU.

And is that Per Degaton (with blonde hair?) floating around on one of his discs?

Considering the fact that it'll be one of the biggest hero villain rumble, I think there'll be MAJOR casualties on both side.

I don't think it looks good at all for the BloodLine Hero who decides to join the fight since they'll probably be Doomsday fodder.

My guess is that the two Superman tells J'onn to come back to coordinate with the lesser heroes while they, Batman and Wonderwoman checks to see if there's no longer a danger from the Tower. Once SBP comes out ready to kill, Superman tells Batman and Wonderwoman to head for Metropolis since beating a Mad Superboy is a job for Superman.

I'd also guess that the entire GL corps along with Alan and Kyle as Ion joins the fight against SBP as well, maybe also SuperGirl. And according to Superman 650, the last deed Superman did was defeat Doomsday again so the battle with Prime would be in the first half and Superman would go to Metropolis afterward and in a very leader like way lead the heroes against the villain along with Batman, WonderWoman and defeat Doomsday.

Not too sure how he'll lose his power at the end or why Batman and WonderWoman won't be working for a year afterward though.

Favourite match-up on the Perez cover:

Plastic Man versus Dr. Psycho. Hee hee, that's going to be such a funny fight. Psycho is soooooo screwed on that one.

Least favourite match-up on the Perez cover:

Green Arrow versus Per Degaton. What? Really?
(Close runner up: Jay Garrick versus Zoom. Please tell me that DC hasn't screwed Zoom up so badly that he can be taken one-on-one by a conventional speedster.)

Oh, and Black Manta totally owns Batman, by the way.

With Doomsday involved, I would be very surprised if there weren't significant casualties. It would require extraordinary suspension of disbelief to think that the ragtag group assembled at the end of the VU special could hold down Doomsday and the rest until Superman arrived, without a few of the heroes kicking the bucket. I think that this is also one of those huge battles where the heroes will have to resort to killing to contain the threat (other than people like Batman, where not killing has become essential to the character).

who secretly hopes G'Nort is the person to end the reign of SBP?

i do! i do!

... tho' with the way thing are going with the rest of *that* crew, maybe we should be taking bets on how far G'Nort's head flies off when SBP punches him ...

To whom? Bane needs it more than Aquaman does. Even if Bane is boosted by Venom, Aquaman is still stronger than Bane is.

Ah well I don't really know much about Aquman. The extent of my knowledge is that he can talk to fish or something and can't find a razor. Banes got brains and brawn.

I like the Green Lantern cover, but I've gotta go with Perez'. Nostalgia and all that...

Pretty nice looking too though. Love the characters that he manages to throw in there. (Bulleteer I'm looking at you).

Banes got brains and brawn.

So does Aquaman. He's the king of a nation and his body can withstand the pressures of the ocean depths, which likely makes him stronger than Bane.

Banes got brains and brawn.

Aquaman would have to be just below Superman in strength, at least, to be able to swim to the bottom of the ocean. We currently don't have submarines that can withstand that pressure. Of course, he'd probably also explode when he got on land due to the change in pressure, but that's comics.

Plus he has the Waterhand now...

Which is insanely plot devicey. Ummmm....SuperFriends Aquaman still in your system? Hell, Crappy Aquaman still pwned Deathstroke. And we all know that Bane is below Slade in just about everything.

Crappy AM didn't do much at all to Deathstroke. And it was during the time when DS was powerless due to the reverse-super serum injection. He was basically peak human and he still took out Hal Jordan with a nutt-shot-jaw-kick then blinded AQ and threw a building on him, then took out a whole team of super powered vigilantees, then took out Flash...all in the same comics in like, five minutes.
