In an effort to recapture some recently deleted DMAX magic this thread is being relaunched!
Over the next week, month, year, etc. please post (or re-post ;)) original artwork depicting Scott Summers in any of their incarnations!
This art can be new or old and in any medium. If it's an old piece please indicate approximately when it was created. And please feel free to comment on others' work, BUT remember, this isn't art class and all posters are encouraged to participate regardless of talent. Unless specifically asked for negative comments are not appreciated and will be reported to the moderator to be deleted. The next Draw Me An X thread will be posted in the coming weeks. So have fun and take your time!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words! I'll still be doing Avengers pics as well, and as always, all things Captain America, but the time has come that I will start doing more of Marvel's Merry Mutants in my series as well (they were my first love at Marvel). Colossus seems like my next X-Man, and I'll be doing Hercules as my next Avenger.
AMAZING! :D

Well, let me know who you're interested in, and I may get to them, or bump them on my list, no promises. I draw these in combination of hand drawn ink line art and computer coloring using Photoshop.
Anyway, more soon, a couple more Beasts along with more Cyclops are on their way next...

Wow, all I can say is that the work you have displayed on this page is ASTONISHING! Now me being a fan of the character this thread is based on, did not completely bias my views, so that I could recognize the very real talent you have in creating art.
I really liked your takes on the Astonishing and New X-Men series duds placed on the Evolution bases. It was cool to see that version of Scott dressed in the comic book uniforms of today. I have to say seeing the older Evolution version of Scott dressed in the 90's Jim Lee get up, really shows the ridiculousness of that costume. You really did do something special with that Astonishing outfit, becuase it really does look very cool in the way you presented it.
Since other posters inquired about requests, I thought I might as well also. If and when you feel up to it I would very much appreciate it if you could post your versions of the whole New X-Men cast as a group shot, (Scott, Jean, Henry, Logan, Charles, Xorn, and Emma). If Proffessor X is too difficult than don't worry about him. Thank you RonnieThunderbolts, for sharing your art with us.

Hi, folks!
Here's my shot at Cyclops! ;)
I put two images there, the first one is the pencil drawing. I usually just do this part but since i was in the mood, i did the second one. The inked drawing.
Since i was inking my own work i spared some details in the pencil part, i hope you can forgive me. :) I put the two cause i think it could be interesting and in now way i want to sound presumptuous.
Hope you like it!

It's based on the Alex Ross ink-black uniform, with certain differences: Black visor instead of the hood, a more slick X on the body and the belt from the Astonishing X-Men Uniform (colored silver instead of gold).
Tell me what you guys think about it.

Looks good, and welcome to the X-Boards. I may find a way to make the belt a little less bold. For me, the contrast is a little distracting.
Who did the source art on his face, anyway? Is that Copiel?

I's from the one issue after Cyclops came back, right before Eve of destruction. The ish where Scott and Corsair have bonding time!!! Larocca I believe!

Thanks for all your comments, I appreciate it. More info on the art:
What I did was, I took the Alex Ross design:
http://www.alexrossart.com/galleries/xmen/full/cyclops.jpg
Removed the corny X design from the body, as well as the little x and the hooded head.
The head I pasted is from Uncanny 394, penciled by Ian Churchill. The black visor without the hood is definitely the best look.
I designed the new chest X myself.
Finally added the belt from John Cassaday's design:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e6/Cyclopsjc.jpg
The contrast and depth of the belt is a little off, but I didn't spend too much time on it.
If I can find the time I'll work on more characters, with the black/red/silver color scheme and my own X designs.

I can see it working well for Hellion.
Ehh I like the hood, the X-men should have a secret identity and since he constantly wears his glasses no hood makes him too easily identifiable. The costume is too close to Havok's classic black body suit, it restricts the artist. The X is still too big all classic outfits have a small chest symbol not a huge one, think if they were the "C-men" wouldn't a giant C that big look stupid? Oh and if he''s going to wear a belt at least make it hold up his pants, a belt worn for the sole purpose to serve as a fashion accessory is as bad as giving him 90's pouches or a feather boa.

Guess it depends on how you define "classic".
And for the record, I think the graphic "X" lends itself to prominent use in character design in a way that other letters do not regardless of size. When the Avengers tried to incorporate "A" badges into their looks during the Harras/Epting run, it looked wrong.

MAGNETO!
http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/3714/magnetonew.jpg
Once again black, red and silver. Perfect for him.
The source art is pencilled by Jim Lee, the head is from the cover of X-Men 2 and the body is from somewhere in that story.
I wanted to give him a dynamic look without losing any of his majesty.
Most new comers think that Magneto is Ian McKellen's age, but the fact is Magneto is no older than 40 in the comics thanks to his de-aging to infancy and later being restored to his prime.
I didn't give him an X on the metal-armor-belt thing (which Jim Lee made look very cool in my opinion) because he will never be a true X-Man, but I gave him an X on his heart symbolic of their alliance and also symbolic of all the suffering he has been through in his life.
Let me know what you guys think about the design.
I'll do more characters if I can, and definitely with the same color scheme and the pure ink black body that I love.

Scott Summer's has been outed. The whole world knows who he is, so the secret identity is a moot point. I hate the hood/cowl. And A giant X works just fine on this costume becaue they aren't the "C-Men", they're the X-Men. I do agree with the belt. It doesn't quite fit. As for the gloves, maybe if they were a bit longer and form fitting, or maybe bracers on his forearms. It's just me but I never really liked those small gloves on any costuem. Overall I really like the look.

I like it except for the color scheme. While black and red looked cool on Cyclops (though I generally prefer him in blue and gold or black and gold), Magneto's color scheme should be purple and red. Always. So I think that if you changed the black parts to red and the red parts to purple it would be perfect.

I like the design, but agree with everyone who's iffy about the red. Blue or Yellow would say Cyclops more.

Scott in black just seems so wrong and so forced. He's not a "man in black", literally or metaphorically. That's why the Alex Ross leotard and the Morrisonian black leather were bad fits on him.

A lot of people have come to associate Cyclops with gold & blue over the years; but for me, it just doesn't work.
The reason is that when it comes to color schemes my preference is in the separation of warm colors from cool colors.
Cyclops' red optic beams are his most unique feature and the red visor truly defines him. Red is one of the two primary warm colors and mixing red and blue in a costume is, in my opinion, a disaster (you can imagine how I feel about Superman's costume).
The golden colored parts of his traditional uniforms beautifully complement the slick red glow of the visor, but the blue clashes very badly with the red.
This is all personal taste of course, I know that most people enjoy the mixing of red/blue. But it's simply not my taste and I wouldn't design a costume with clashing warm/cool colors.

I love it. Much better then Scott's current costume, which I'm not a huge fan of.
Red & Black are my fave colours, they go well together. I think it's a pretty slick and streamlined look too. I would however remove the belt..maybe add a jacket...and tweak the X on his chest a little bit, but otherwise it's really really good.
I know Gold & Blue are his colours...but i think those are a bit dated. And i hate the skull cap. I also hate the SUPER SUPER tight spandex look. I wonder how he even moves in his current costume.

Classic outfits as in outfits that are so good they're not changed every year because there is nothing wrong with them(and look wrong when someone does try), Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, Spider-man, Captain America, Fantastic Four. Unfortunately for the X-men I don't think any of them have ever really had a "classic" outfit, except maybe Wolverine's brown one, maybe because it is kind of difficult to incorporate the X into their uniform or their originals were just so boring compared to the rest of the characters created around that time.

Five or six years ago I drew a picture of Jean Grey in a modified version of Duo Damsel's 1970s costume. Tonight I amused myself drawing Cyclops in a modified version of Cosmic Boy's 1970's costume. And, really, shouldn't he be dressed like this all the time? I think he should. Oh yes.
