Of all the pencilers currently working on an X-Title, who is your favorite (not including minis)? The artists are:

Astonishing X-Men: John Cassaday
Cable & Deadpool: Lan Medina
Exiles: Paul Pelletier
New Excalibur: Michael Ryan
New X-Men: Paco Medina
Ultimate X-Men: Tom Raney/ Ben Oliver
Uncanny X-Men: Chris Bachalo
X-Factor: Dennis Calero
X-Men: Salvador Larroca

My personal favorite is Tom Raney, who is doing amazing stuff on Ultimate X-Men. I personally wish Marvel didn't incist on a rotating art team for the title, because I would love to see him full time on the book instead of every other arc.

Why...why would anyone want to do that?

Well, ah, I'd say Ryan Sook is worthy of holding Bachalo's genitals.

I guess.

From this current list of mutant titles, I'm only reading 2 of them. As a result, I'd say that Paul Pelletier is my favorite. And yes, I'm a little biased as I still think his run with Tony Bedard on Negation is one of my all-time favorite books. John Cassaday and Tom Raney are very close seconds for me.

I'm sure Ryan Sook would be happy to read that. :D

His most recent Marvel Team-Up issues were great and he seems like the perfect artist (permanent or fill-in) for New X-Men.

Sal Larroca my all time favorite. I have enjoyed him a lot over the years.

Paco Medina, only because I don't really care for any of the other ones. Not that they aren't good but they just don't really stick out to me.

Lets see:

John Cassaday - Good but the art has no movement to it, it's flat and stale in places.
Lan Medina - Don't really know.
Paul Pelletier - I prefer Callifiore.
Michael Ryan - Nice, works well with the book. the man can draw clothes very nicely.
Paco Medina - nice...that's all really
Tom Raney/ Ben Oliver - meh
Chris Bachalo - Excellent in places, his actions scene are good although average 8 inkers per book?...wow.
Salvador Larroca - DAng Awful most the time.
Ryan Sook -Better then Calero and one of the best.

So, on that. Bachalo..but if Davis were still drawing X-men, he'd win hand down.

Ryan....

Larocca;
His X-treme work was amazing, but ever since he moved to Uncanny and adjectiveless, it's been crap. I don't know what it is...the colors, the inking.....both....
His recent new style looks hot again, but since I dropped the book after Milligan's second arc, I have just seen the art in previews and so can't vote for him.

Cassaday and Bachalo. Also Tan is pretty dam good the issues he's been drawing and the preview art for Uncanny.

Bachalo.

The others can't hold his dick.

While I agree that CB is the top X artist right now - I can't really comment on his genitals. (And Chris would win this even easier if they would give him a regular inker.)

And Sook is my second place choice. The art in the most recent issue of X-Factor was great.

Hmmm...summer seems like it'll be better.

John Cassaday (AXM) - As Fury said, good and pretty but can be a little bland.
Lan Medina (C&D) - Haven't read it. :o
Paul Pelletier (EXILES) - Prefer Caliafore. I liked his GLA though.
Michael Ryan (NEX) - Costume design is quite horrible and his faces aren't the best, but is improving.
Paco Medina (NXM) - Was gradually improving, but then disappointed with latest issue. Still, pretty good and nothing that hurts the eyes.
Tom Raney/ Ben Oliver (ULTXM) - Raney & Olivier: Something about it doesn't suit my tastes.
Chris Bachalo (UXM) - I'm loving it. Supersize me some Bachalo.
Dennis Calero (XF) - Good gory images but sketchy storytelling.
Salvador Larroca (XM) - What Fury said.

Overally, everyone is okay...but Bachalo is best.

John Cassaday and Salvador Larroca are my top picks although I lean a bit more towards Sal because he's had a far greater output and is current art is looking better than ever.

Bachalo is ok when it isn't a cluttered mess and is readable and has better colors.

John Cassaday (AXM) is the best overall.

Bachalo (UXM) is a good storyteller, but I have to say that at times I can barely tell what's happening on certain pages. I don't know if it's the inking, or the coloring; which would be his fault. But sometimes it's just a little confusing.

Paco Medina (NXM) I think he has a really great style, and always look forward to him working on books that I read.

Salvador Larroca (XM) He is always growing as an artist which is great. I have to say that I like his earlier work on Uncanny X-Men, and even back to his Fantastic Four days more than his current work. I'm not saying it's not good, I just liked his earlier stuff more.

The rest of the artists, IMHO, pale in comparison to ones I mentioned above. But I could never draw a comic book, so I don't really have the right to complain about them. I'm just giving my aesthetic opinion.

it would be leinil francis yu if you were to count ultimate hulk/wolverine as an x-book though.

Cassidy and Sal.

Sal's work has been crap recenty but his stuff on the early issues of X-treme were top notch quality.

I agree that Larocca's art was much, much stronger on X-Treme. I think it's because it was reproduced from his uninked pencils. The colors by Liquid! were also much better than some of the other colorists he's had since XXM.

I don't think Danny Miki's inks do Larocca's pencils any favors. IMO, Larocca's work on Adjectiveless has ranged from OK-ish to Pretty Bad. I mean, compared to most of the other artists around these days I think Larocca's recent stuff has been pretty good; it's just a letdown when you know how amazing his art COULD be and then compare that to the finished product we've actually been getting. I do think his work has gotten better recently but it's still not as good as his old XXM stuff.

Of the current X-artists Cassaday is my favorite, but it was definitely Sook before he left X-Factor. I'm a Tom Raney fan but I don't read any of the Ultimate books so I don't know what his work has been like there.

John Cassady.

I'd definitely have to say Bachalo, which was easy to decide on since he's one of my all time favorites. Cassaday would be close if his work was more consistent. Sometimes I love his artwork, other times I most definitely don't.

Hmmm it would have to be between John Cassaday and Salvador Larroca, i can't decide... I would say Cassaday outright but his inability to keep things on time really annoys me.

Without a doubt John Cassaday.

The only art that comes close to his is Sal's art during his Xtreme X-men days.

Marc Silvestri... hey, the Deadly Genesis covers count, right?

Otherwise, Leinil Yu on Ultimate Wolverine/Hulk.

But of the ones listed, "Quarterly" John Cassaday is my favorite.

X-Factor: Dennis Calero

Call me crazy, but I have been really impressed by his work on XF. I hope Marvel keeps him on past 12.

I've enjoyed Calero's XF work, too. I miss Ryan Sook, because I thought his work on this book was amazing, but if we can't have him, I'm happy to have Calero.
