What would you consider the definitive story for your favorite characters?

Psylocke-while i don't like what they did for her-Unc. 256-258, with a close second being New Mutants Annual 2, and Unc. 212-213

Wolverine-the original Wolverine Mini. With Unc. 133 being a close second.

Storm-Lifedeath-nuff said.

Is 133 the one where it's Wolverine against the Hellfire club? Becuase I'd say thats definitive.

Also, Uncanny X-men #247 (I think, it's the one where she teaches Prof X to skate) is definitly definitive.

Yes, 133 is the against the Hellfire club.

That was Jubilee, and that was issue 297, close though.

Psylocke-while i don't like what they did for her-Unc. 256-258, with a close second being New Mutants Annual 2, and Unc. 212-213Agreed 100%

Wolverine-the original Wolverine Mini. With Unc. 133 being a close second.I agree with the Wolverine mini, but not with Uncanny X-Men #133. I think Wolverine's best is in Uncanny X-Men 110, 172-173, 205, 207, 213, 251, 257-258, 268, Wolverne (1st Series) 1-4 as you have cited, Wolverine (2nd Series) 125-128, Kitty Pryde and Wolverine 1-6, and what Chris Claremont intended for Uncanny X-Men #294 to be. :)

Storm-Lifedeath-nuff said. That is certainly one of them.

Magneto in Classic X-Men 12, 19, New Mutants (1st Series) 29, 35, 53, 61, 65, 75, Uncanny X-Men 150, 161, 196, 199-200, 203 (his line about how Charles asked him if he would slay Hitler's grandmother to spare the world the holocaust. That was a powerful scene), 210, 274-275, X-Men (2nd Series) 1-3.

Phoenix III (I refuse to call her Marvel Girl) in Excalibur (1st Series) 52, 66-67, Excalibur: The Sword Is Drawn, New Mutants (1st Series) 18, Uncanny X-Men 188-189, 196, 199-200, 207-209, Annual #14. Annual 14 is a big one.

For Psylocke, Uncanny X-Men Annual #11 is important because she discovers she is warrior like Storm & Wolverine in the course of the story. Uncanny X-Men #232-234 is important since it debuts her armor. Mojo mentions in Uncanny X-Men #256 to give Psylocke an inner armor to reflect the armor she used to wear in the story. He also mentions "inner eyes" to dance Psylocke's twisted path within the Wildways of Psylocke's mind as her transformation into the ultimate woman warrior is complete.

Most of those Havok stories are rubbish, so they are not definitive.
I'd recommend early X-Factor issues for some good Warren Worthington stories. His defining moment was being turned into a Horseman, unlike Wolverine & Gambit when it was one of their worst.

Really, that's cool, I'll hopefully one day do that with Jubilee.

Can anyone think of a definitive story in the last 5 years?

I'd say Son Of M could go down as a difinitive Quicksilver comic.

Storm-Lifedeath-nuff said.
I always thought Lifedeath was one of the worst X-stories I have ever read. I could never get into that story. Although Storm is not my favorite character but her definitive run to me is the "Outback era", this was when I finally started to like her.

Really? Hmmm...interesting, I hated the idea of her losing her powers, but these stories really spoke to me of her character. But that's just me.

I believe Storm's transformation from unreachable, untouchable goddess to passionate woman is amplified when Storm loses her powers which makes LifeDeath wonderfully, dense character study of Storm & Forge. Ororo comes to terms with losing her powers after she returns to Africa, yet the Mutant Massacre gives Storm a reason to seek out Forge to restore her powers since the world is more dangerous for mutants than ever. After Storm regains her powers, she is more goddess-like, yet she retains her passionate humanity to ground her. She does not bother to hides her emotions. Uncanny X-Men #167-248 has some substantive character building moments for Ororo. Losing her powers, Claremont took the ultimate risk & played it out very well.

So, you like the bears huh? lol, jk. But seriously that's exactly how i feel. I wish they would take more chances with characters as long as they make sense, and they act like they would going through changes than just drastic changes and act like nothing happened.

Agreed. And if a character goes through a drastic change, ie. Gambit, its usually handled horribly. I was hoping Milligan would really flesh out Lorna when she lost her powers, and while I guess you could call X-Men 180-181 "LifeDeath Lite," he could have done so much more with her and Alex. 180 was a good start, but then he put Doop in the storyline and it all turned to crap.

As for definitive x-men stories, here are a few of mine. I'm not going to bother doing Jean, Jubes, Wolverine, Havok, etc because you guys definitely nailed them already. So here are some others that come to mind:

Emma Frost: Uncanny X-Men 314, Generation X 18-19, 55-56

Polaris: X-Factor 87, 122, Uncanny X-Men 429-434, X-Men 180

Magik: Magik 1-4, New Mutants 14-17, 36-37, 50-51, 66, 71-73

We are in total agreement on these issues

Dani Moonstar-New Mutants 18-20, New Mutants Spec. Ed. 1, Unc. X-Men annual 10, New Mutants 41

Dazzler-Dazzler:the movie, Dazzler 38-42(I know I know, but it started her down the more super hero path that's she's been written like after her series.)

Magneto
"Fire in the Night" Magneto #0

My choices for a few faves:

Magneto:
Uncanny X-Men #150, "I Magneto". Seemingly the final confrontation between Mags and the X-Men. By the end of the story he finally sees the cost of his war against humanity. Claremont's characterization is perfect: the right balance of arrogance and humility, especially when he thought he had killed Kitty.

Professor X: I'd go with UXM #161, a flashback ish that revealed how he first met the man who would become Magneto.

Storm: Lifedeath. Hands down.

Wolverine: the first Wolverine mini, by Claremont and Miller. Also, UXM #132(I think) when he took on the Hellfire Club's goons. "Okay, bozos, you had your shot. Now it's my turn."

Colossus: #128, when he faced off against Proteus. Also AXM #4-6, with his return.

Kitty Pryde: #168, "Professor Xavier is a Jerk". Her awkward adolescent phase(pardon the pun), switching from bratty to wise-beyond-her-years. Perfect!

Classic X-Men #19 is about Magneto and a woman he loved named Isabelle, whose throat was cut by people Magneto thought were his friends. As seen in Uncanny X-Men #275, this event caused him no end of grief, and was likely a reason for his turn to evil at the Shadow King's promptings.

Magneto is definitely defined in Uncanny X-Men #275.
