yeah, the issue was solicited as being drawn by bachalo but this is definitely cruz's work.

Correct. Roger Cruz is finishing up Claremont's Uncanny run as artist.

Isn't Mark Brooks doing the art for #474?

I think he is now that you mentioned it. He drew the cover for sure at least.

is bachalo's work right? It looks distinctly like his Psylocke?

Cruz can manipulate his style to resemble other artists, and has done this his whole career.

Its Roger Cruz. It looks pretty good.

Mark Brooks is doing the COVER for 474, Cruz is still doing the interiors.

Art aside, I wonder why Psylocke is getting pissed at Bishop for? Do you guys think it has to do with that dreamtime scene from xtreme x-men after betsy died?

This art is horrible. That Watcher looks like a crackhead. Bachalo drew a good looking Watcher in this last issue. I hate Cruz's art.

I don't really like it either, but I think it fits better with these characters and this story rather than Milligan's (though Cruz did do quite a CRAZY Lorna).

Claremont lovers? I've never touched the man.

I also like Stan Lee and Roy Thomas' runs. I enjoyed John Byrne's "X-Men: The Hidden Years" and Alan Davis' work on "Excalibur". I liked Peter David and Frank Hama's runs on "Wolverine". Louise Simonson on "X-Factor" was entertaining.

But yeah, I consider Claremont's definitive run to be the best X-Men ever.

I just don't think the way he draws the characters looks good at all. I really hate this art. I will buy the issue b/c Bedard did a great job in the previous one scripting the plot. I didn't like his X-Men art, I won't like this.

I'll read it because, as you said, Bedard did awesome last issue, plus this arc is a conclusion/set-up for things to come.

Cruz's art freaks me out. He would probably work well with something VERY VERY quirky though.

I agree, he would be good for a book like X-Statix or I think he would fit Nextwave but Immonen is a great artist so I'd hate to see him go. The heads on the characters of Cruz's just look...crazy.

Which is why I LOVED his crazy Lorna. She scared the befetus out of me.

I remember find a pic of his Lorna a while ago, I don't remember where it was from, but it was gorgeous and fierce. I think it was during the Joe Mad era.

I liked the stuff he drew in the 90's but his recent stuff...I don't know it could be rushed but still, not to my taste. To say it's horrible was a lil harsh, it's just not my taste.

this last arc has really ended up not being as what was originally billed (due to some obvious reasons).

originally:
472- claremont and bachalo
473- claremont and bachalo
474- claremont and cruz

what we're getting:
472- claremont, bedard and bachalo
473- bedard and cruz
474- bedard and cruz

i'm most bummed about cruz doing both 473 and 474. reminds me of when he filled in for larroca unannounced a few months back on x-men 180 and 181. you know he's got to be somewhat rushing on these issues.

Yeah... sigh. I mean, Cruz's art isn't THAT bad in my opinion. I actually liked his work in X-Men 180, but 181 was definately rushed. Of course, since Uncanny is monthly, not bi-weekly, hopefully Cruz won't be rushing to much.

I don't have much problems with Roger Cruz's art here because it's still his fully developed recent art. The only reason it looks more Bachalo'ish is to maintain at least a bit more consistency and the guy could ape Bachalo's art near flawlessly just looking at that one issue he did of X-Men: The Twelve.

does anyone know why cuz is on this issue and if he's finishing the arc? i don't have a problem with cruz, he does have a pretty cool style, but when he rushes, it just looks generic.

Well, its better than seein Bachalo in my opinion. I just can't wait for the launch of Brubaker and Tan's run, that day will not come soon enough.

cruz was solicited as doing 474; presumably marvel had him do 473 as well to give bachalo more time to work on his upcoming x-men run with carey.

A couple of things I noticed:

-That shadow makes the Watcher look like he has a buzzcut
-What is up with the perv-ish grin on Kurt's face when Psylocke is holding him to her bosom?
-When did Bishop switch back to his Shi'ar miner's outfit he got in UXM 340s?

Awww hell, not more Cruz... Ah well, it would have been nice if Bachalo had completed the arc before moving on.

At least he'll have time to get ahead on his work for X-Men.

From that last page, it looks like the Watcher is going to explain the link between Psylocke and Rachel, and maybe give us a little info on Rachel's fluctuating power levels. Cool.

As for the art, well, I'd much prefer to have Bachelo, but since Cruz seems to be tracing Bachelo anyway, it's not too bad.
