My mother fell on Good Friday and broke the neck of her femur. Snapped clean through, so she did a decent job of it.
She's had a full hip replacement and is slowly recovering, but she picked up a dose of pneumonia while in Intensive Care that set things back a bit.
She's feeling better, but I'm worried how she'll cope trying to get mobile again.
Early days yet, I suppose.

I hope your mum gets well soon, Cam.
My parents (especially my dad) keep in poor health and I have to watch out for them all the time so I know what it is like.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, Cam! :(
It's unfortunate but a lot of senior citizen get pneumonia when they are in the ICU. If the doctors are not having her use a peak flow meter, I would suggest getting her one. It's such a simple device that I feel really helps break up the mucus.
I'll remember her and you in my prayers though.

Hip replacements are easy. Your mom will be kicking ass & taking names in a couple weeks.
The first name on her list is Pneumonia. Chuck Norris is #2.

Sorry to hear your mom's been sick. That's a tough way to spend the holidays, huh? Hope to hear she's up and about soon.
Take care, Cam. And get your carousing out of the way now while her back is turned and you've got the chance. And no sneaking her beer. And... and... and I wish I had something I could say that would make it better. Wish I could come over and sit with you for a while.
:<X <= me, sad, knitting.

Sorry to hear that Cam. Both my parents have had hip replacements and they both recovered fully. Good luck with everything.

The good news is, you can smart off and she won't be able chase you around beating you with a stick.
But, I hear she holds a mean grudge. Better mind your P's & Q's after all.

Thank you all for the kind words and I'll pass 'em on to the old sheila. :)
I tried slippin' some vodka into her IV, but them ICU staff are pretty much on the ball.
Cool news today is she's feeling much better re the pneumonia and has been able to take some steps. I thought leaving a sixpack just outta reach on her locker would give her the right amount of incentive. :D

Um... She's Australian too, so she's a natural at throwin' stuff like sticks, shoes, planks, Bowie knives and the odd kitchen sink.
Her aim's not bad.

Cam I’m really sorry about what happened to your mother. I know you aren’t a believer but for what it’s wroth I am praying for her. I know we go back and forth a lot but you really are one of my real life heroes and I wish you and your family nothing but the best during what must be an incredibly difficult time for you all. Here's hoping that you mother is back on her feet soon.

Oh noes Cam! Hope she'll be up and about in the near future. Whatever doesn't kill her can only make her stronger...or, gain a plastic hip...or something.
All my best to you and her.

Any updates on your new and improved mum with the bionic hip?
Whenever she moves about now, you should make that wa,wa,wa song effect.

Fever gone, blood pressure improved, but hip and leg still pretty painful due to swelling and immobility.
She'll be better when she gets home next week and starts using the bugger.
Aim with bedpans and clipboards, still deadly.

I'm worried about her regaining her mobility, but we'll see how she goes in the next month or so.
She'll have to handle some pain, but I think the old girl will be up to it.

Now, by "worried", do you mean you're worried that she won't be able to move like she used to?
Or, are you worried she'll have the same mobility as before and be able to chase after you again?

And I think a "MamaCam" is a capital idea! Kinda like the Kitty-cam my roommate hopes for to document the adventures of her wayward tabby.
I'm so very glad to hear you're mom's doing better, Cam. Be patient if she's firey right now. As action heroes know, the point where the body feels well, but the mending is not done is so frustrating when there's much to do and people to spy on. I mean, if one misses contact with the community. She's lucky to have you. Take care of yourself so you can keep taking care of her.
