Now wouldn'tcha know it, I go over & join up at Herorealm, make one post--- this one:
-------------
Hey Tony!

Just signed on over here to stop by and tell you, I just finished reading all the Exiles trades, and had an absolute blast! I just agreed yesterday to guest at CAPE2 also. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting you.

I'm a pal of Gail Simone's, and I'm just coming back into working in the comics field after about 15 years away doing novels, movies, rescue work & stuff.

Y'all can have a peek at my work here: www.gryphonking.com and on the left, click Gallery then name: guest, password: hireme.

I think we are gonna have a LOT of fun in Dallas!
---------
...and then the next thing I read there is that you've moved here. :) Welcome to CBR, Tony! There are some very sweet, smart, fun folks here to keep you company any ol' time.

So, you'll be at CAPE 2, anywhere else you'll be appearing soon?

Oh! And I was just playing City of Heroes tonight with Howard Porter, who says Hey :)

Howard's the greatest. I loved the guy the moment I met him -- terrific sense of humor and a real love of the medium.

I don't have any other definite convention appearances yet. When i'm gone from from my family for even a few days, it disrupts their whole routine, so i try and keep that to a minimum. But, this year, maybe San Diego...?

Howard is a great guy! And a good CoH/CoV player. Gail (Simone) is too. If you play (or want to) we'll show you the ropes.

I'm glad you could make it out to CAPE! It was nice meeting you Larry. CAPE! was awesome despite the rain.

Dudes, I need to give CAPE it's own thread! That was the best-run, flat-out NICEST event I think I've ever attended. Zeus is a beautiful store (all too rare, no?) and the staff and clientele seemed handpicked from the coolest people in Dallas. Thanks so much for letting me come!

Much later, Tony looked at the name of this thread, "Cape 2 and other appearances" and realized it did, indeed, have it's own thread.

Oh, well, Gail's CAPE 2 thread in her YABS section is much better, anyway. Speaking of which, I just saw how many posts she's got, and now I have my first case of message board envy!

They were all here at CAPE too!

Tony, you've said some wonderful things about the event and about the store. We all enjoyed our time chatting and visiting with you. I have new insight into your work.

When they announce FCBD next year keep CAPE in mind. I will be asking you back.

PS thanks for telling me who the 6th member of Gail's Secret Six is.

Tony it was terrific to meet you, though it was all too brief. We both had people hovering 'round the tables almost the entire time---which was great---but that seldom leaves pros time to get together! I didn't even get to meet half the guests.

I was yakking with Gail on the far side of the tent when I saw you go over to check out my easel displays. The rain had put the kibosh on the power for the LCD slideshows and all, so that was what was left. I wish we could have hung out more.

CAPE2 was definitely a blast. There was such a good mood for everyone.

You know, one of the things that impressed me the most about the store is that it was laid out in such a way as to be convoluted---good for encouraging browsing---but not crowded. The best parts, for me, were the sculpture display cases. I'm a sucker for sculptures and miniatures and to find that the endcaps or pillars of the book racks were well-lit gallery-quality art displays really made the whole thing for me.

I also have to give a big attaboy to the staff and volunteers. Richard and Sean may have piloted and navigated, but it's the crew that makes the ship.

I've been here a long time, Tony, you'll eclipse me in no time!

And I second that it was GREAT talking to you and I completely see why Waid raves about ya. I picked up a bunch of your stuff and can't wait to read it all.

Hope to see you again (although I agree, it'll be hard to beat CAPE for nicenessnessitude) soon!

Gail

Tony, I enjoyed meeting you at Cape, too. I have a confession. I had you sign 4 Exiles books and . . . well . . . I've never read you. Yeah, you got me. I had actually got the books in a benefit lot for Hurricane Katrina last year. I saw you were gonna be there and I pulled them aside for your signature. I am mainly a DC guy. I think that's due to the small size of my pocketbook and growing outside of my universe. You were very friendly and approachable at the con, and as soon as I get caught up I'll read those Exiles. Are there any DC books I might can check out of yours from the past or anything?

Azrael, I'm just now starting to pick up work at DC, so there's nothing I can point you to. But, dude, there's great stuff out there from many publishers! Try Astonishing X-Men, or The Goon, or The Walking Dead. It's not too late!

Sqeeee! I want to know!

I go back and forth with this one, but really I'm a DC guy at heart.

I can't wait to see what's in the works.
