BEYOND #1 (OF 6)
Written by DWAYNE MCDUFFIE
Pencils & Cover by SCOTT KOLINS
An indescribably powerful cosmic being gathers nine of Marvel’s most mismatched super beings for purposes beyond their comprehension. Can Spider-Man, Gravity, Venom, Henry Pym, The Wasp, Medusa, Kraven, Firebird and the Hood keep from killing each other before they have to face the dangers of their destination, the deadly artificial planet known as Battleworld?
Dwayne McDuffie writing Spider-Man and Gravity?!? Hot diggity dog!

Without saying who are not some of those characters dead?

Nope.
The guy you're thinking is dead is actually the guy's son.

If you mean Kraven, this is actually the son of Kraven the Hunter who is dead. This Kraven is actually a hero (and a foe of Venom.)

And Dwayne McDuffie is returing to comics. After JLU, DC made a big mistake not snapping this guy up right away for more comics. Good call on Marvel's part.
Gravity, Spidey, Medusa, the Pyms, Dwayne!!! This is gonna rawk so much.

I will remove this post if anyone complains about spoilers but I thought that Venom kicked the bucket during a Mark Miller Spider-man storyline. Thanks for clearing up my confusion about Kraven.

I don't know if he kicked the bucket, but there is a new Venom now too. The symbiote bonded with the guy who used to be the Scorpion.

Eddie Brock did. The suit didn't. It's now bonded to Mac "Scorpion" Gargan.

Thank you guys. I love comics but I do get the occasional headache trying to keep both Marvel and DC mythology straight.

From the rumors I hear there was bad blood between McDuffie and Paul Levitz over Milestone...but they are all just rumors. I know that McDuffie tried to get a job writing JLU comics with DC but they turned him down.
It is Avengers editor Tom Brevoort who has been working on giving McDuffie stuff. good on him!

I consider it a good move by Tom Brevoort to get Dwayne McDuffie back into comics. I'm not quite sure how true those DC rumors are but anytime a good writer gets work, I'm happy.

Millar wanted Brock to be stone-cold dead. Marvel didn't want Brock to be dead. Marvel wanted some ambiguity. So it was simply stated by a character that they didn't know if Brock would live through the night after he slit his wrists.
So far, Brock hasn't been mentioned anywhere since. But the possibility is there to bring Eddie Brock back without really reviving him since his status is basically unknown at this point.

Ok...although what I meant was is that I did not read those issues so I did not know what the final fate of Eddie Brock was. All I knew was that the old scorpion was the new Venom.
