Im in the process of saving all your pipelines so i can read them on my lapop which is how i tend to read stuff on the net these days and found you ahd a zipped file on another site of the first 'volume'. Awesome - thanks so much for that.
Really enjoy them and i love the fact that the early ones are still available! The mid-90's were a different time and it'l be interesting to have a look see at those issues..

Oh, dear god.
I mean - hey, enjoy!
But, yeah, those were strange times in retrospect. I haven't read through many of those earliest columns in a couple of years now. They're not embarrassing, but they are amazingly short and simple, occasionally even more random and scattershot than today, and oddly personal.
Two funny things about that old website: I used the comics sans font in it. Oh, to be young and naive again. . . Second, I haven't had that account in years, yet the web sites are still up. I can't dial in or check my e-mail there or edit those pages anymore, grant you, but they never erased my home page and associated web pages. I still find that odd.
(And, hey, check out the old CBR banner (http://www.nic.com/~augie/pipeline/index.htm)!)
Now, when the tenth anniversary of Pipeline comes up next year, I'll be needing to reread all those again, too, I think. That said, TEN YEARS ago this past week, I was reviewing:
* The Maxx #23
* The New Shadowhawk #7
* Batman Black and White #1
* NewForce #2
* Superman: The Man of Steel #56
* Sin City: That Yellow Bastard #3
* Starman #19
* Captain America #452
* Sergio Aragones Massacres Marvel #1
* Walt Disney's Uncle $crooge Adventures In Color #2
And I think half of them are available in trade today. ;-)
(Before anyone asks -- these were reviews for the column I did BEFORE relaunching as Pipeline Commentary and Review. My very first attempt at a column started in January 1996, but only lasted about six months.)

Bad logo - To me that reads as "Comic Resources Book".

It's the old PHANTOM yellow-and-purple color scheme I enjoy.
And, hey, the Amazon referal link in the left column is still valid! =)

Some simpleton on a board here told me "it's called Comic Book Resources, why don't you look around" when I posted a perfectly reasonable question and I wanted to tell him "Look guy, it was originally 'Jonah Weiland's Comic Book Links' iirc. I have been visiting the site for 10 years."
But kids these days, they have no respect and no sense of what came before!

You should have completely blown his mind and asked where the Kingdom Come message board was. . .
(We may need a Jonah Intervention now to explain that one to the noobs. Or maybe Beau. ;-)

LOL - in the same vein I remember sending Jonah an email at the same time I posted to Usenet to find out if he knew anything about Howard Porter, the newly announced artist for the all new Grant Morrison Justice League series. It's really awesome to see how CBR has evolved - I mean, it went from the gateay to all things comic book when it was basically just the link database to the most visited comic book site on the internet.
On a funnier note, I posted to a Newsrama article last year sometime where somebody was complaining about Marvel.com or DCComics.com and basically said "they should hire Jonah Weiland to design their sites" and got no less than 3 or 4 replies of "Who the hell is Jonah Weiland?" Like I said, kids these days.

I bet Jonah prefers it that way. He stays away from the nutcases that way. . .
(And, just to be fair, I think Newsarama gets more hits than CBR, but it all depends on what metrics you're using.)

yeah, other places may get more hits (not many, but some) but those places rarely, if at all, have the types of depth and variety of discussion that CBR has!

Your check, kind sir, is in the mail.
I do like to think we have less "FIRST POST!" type of message board denizens here, but I don't get out much.
