I'm sure this point has already been brought up in 1 of the many threads in this forum(so this post will be merged).
Anybody realize that civil war & what it looks llike it will bring to the Marvel U. is very similiar to the events that led to the 2099 U?
The history of the 2099 U is that the Mutant Registration Act led to a revolt from the mutants, & many of the non-mutant heros joined them, expanding the act to include non-mutie heros as weel. The final battle between all heros & sentinels left the heros beaten & in custody, dead, or in hiding.
While the events of Civil War wont be as drastic or as far reaching, the similarities are there.
Can Civil War/2099 mini-series be far off?

Good idea for a What If issue (What If Civil War led to 2099?) :)

The Mutant/Superhero registration idea has been used a number of times. Civil War is certainly not the first. That said, if it points anyone toward the 2099 books, it's okay by me. There was some good reading there. I was annoyed at the Marvel Knights 2099 books not having anything to do with the original 2099, and aside from Exiles, we haven't seen the 2099 characters in quite a while. Let's add a 2099 revival to Marvel's recent pile of nostalgia projects (Onslaught Reborn, Untold Tales of the New Universe, etc.) :p

Id like to see Spidey99 comming back. That would be cool.
Its a lame idea but what if he showed up in the middle of Civil war and said "Look at what all this leads to." Would be funny.

side point: was the 2099 books last year the same 2099 universe that was around in the early 90s

No, that was a different timeline/universe.

He popped up recently in Exiles and joined the team. The caveat on the Exiles Worlds Tour books is that all of the realities they visit are slight variations on the actual ones, so super-hyper-picky continuity freaks can't say "But that never happened to Character X in Favorite Reality Y!".

But really, I would buy a Return to 2099 mini, especially with PAD and Rick Leonardi at the helm :D
