Excellent.
One part Steranko, one part Kirby.
The team neutralizes super-spy John Stone and learns the secret origin of the Four.
They made a deal with Darkseid. Or the local equivalent.
Their little jaunt through the Bleed took them to a very Apokalips-like world, where they made a deal. In exchange for becoming superhuman and immortal, they agreed to betray their (our) Earth.
Cassaday's full page image of . . . well, you'll see . . . is just breathtaking.

how come this four was so good and ellis's ultimate four was kinda ......lame. he needs to do a evil four f-ing over the marvel universe , with no planetary to stop them. you know you want to see cassaday drawing wolverine getting his regrowing mutton chops pulled out ...one by one......

Wow, ED I never thought of that. Boy are the Four gonna get screwed no matter what happens.
This series has been great. A nice story, slowly built up over the years.
Fantastic art. Cassaday's best work.

I'm still not entirely clear on what Dowling's power actually is, but it was still a wonderful issue. I couldn't believe that full-page spread of Apokalips.

I love Ellis' re-telling/pastiche of the Fantatic Four origins. In fact, the name,"The Four", escaped my notice , until this issue bopped it over my head. Heh! An EVIL Reed Richards. Pretty cool issue.

You're kidding.
Eversince the days of the WEF, they were know as the "Fascistic Four".

I just never really thought that he was going all the way with the name. I mean, I knew that there was a play on the name FF, but I thought it was just a starting point. I didn't think that he was going all the way to even having the the Four be almost dupilcates of the the original FF.
Plus, it has been so long between issues that I could have just forgotten about it all.

Are the last two issues going to be oversized? I'm curious as to how Ellis is going to wrap up the story in just two issues.
Does this series really have to end? :(

As far as I know, they are not going to be oversized.
I heard somewhere that there might be an issue 27 sometime after the series ends. Not right away, but several months, maybe a year later. I think I heard it on Millarworld.

Ellis has already stated that there will be a lot of unresolved plot points.
So, don't get your hopes up.

Damn the man. Ellis I'll let you get away with this unresolved plots as long as we get some Planetary specials every once and a while down the line.

I don't know. I wasn't too thrilled with the seven page takedown of John Stone. I mean, at this point, I'm pretty sure they will win any confrontation with any enemy they face this side of the remaining Four. Fisticuffs are fine, but at this point, we need more plot.

Everytime I completely forget about Planetary, a new issue comes out and I have to rack my memory to try to remember who the characters are and what the heck is going on. Y'know, at this point, it might be best to just put the new issues in a pile and wait till the series is over, then read them all from beginning to end in one sitting.
That said, this was a nifty little issue. Cassaday's art was gorgeous as always and Ellis is doing what Ellis does--write snarky little stories about snarky little people with a heathy dose of "wow, that's freakin' cool" moments.

i agree. that's what i've been doing of late. i buy the issues, read once and then put them together so i can read them at once in a few months.
not just for planetary, for most of the books that read well in arcs or are always late

one unresolved plot point: where the hell is that 'creature' that the fictionauts brought back?
anyone have a guess?

That one, I'm hoping, is going to be resolved. Given that the whole deal is linked to the Four, *and* that Ambrose Chase is apparently linked to Snow's actions.

I remember reading somewhere that that is one of the plot points that will NOT be revealed... though I have seen some pretty wild theories... I've heard Bugs Bunny mentioned....

I think the difference is that Planetary is something he helped design and something he's been working on for a million years. He's pretty much created the visual language of Planetary. Also, Ellis likes to write for his artist, to play to their strengths. So I think Cassady's art is going to be better on Planetary than on Astonishing.

I've always thought Cassady's work on Astonshing was mediocre... Although I'm not a fan of the stories, either. So maybe that's a factor.
Love Planetary, though.

You might like this cover, too, done in a similar style:

It's a scathing fictional account of modern (post-Soviet) Russia.

I kind of agree, given that there is very little space left. I know they were doing it to put on a good show for those watching, but even so with only a couple of issues left I would have kept a lot shorter.

my only issue here was that i couldn't remember what was going on and what Elijah was talking about mostly
but it was a cool new-take on the Fantastic Four

This is my favourite comic. There is so much going on in Planetary it's amazing. I'm sure Ellis could have made it 100 issues if he wanted to, and I'm extremely dissapointing it's coming to an end. I'm still holding out hope that it goes a few issues longer than expected, as I can not fathom how everything is gonna be resolved with a couple issues left. Even leaving lots of loose ends, it seems like it should take more than 2 issues to finish.

i just got done reading it. that planet the 4 found, just blew me away just like the world they found in the jacob greene storyline. shame this book barely ever comes out

I can't stand Warren Ellis, but even the mighty DJ Sloofus must admit that Planetary is a good comic. The latest issue, in particular, was pretty damn good. Usually this has more to do with Cassaday than Ellis, but this time that old Britt actually pulled through.

i have to agree, Cassaday is an extraodrinary penciler. i loved the Hark story which had elements from movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon which he put down very well.
as for issue 25, i was surprised to find out about Dowling's power.
'He stretches'
i mean we all knew the 4 were based on the Fantastic Four, but up until now their powers have been an exact mirroring of the FF's. until it was revealed that Dowling 'stretches' in the sense that he can stretch his mind and take control.
genius.
