It's rare that a new super hero comic survives its first year, but Image Comics' "Noble Causes" has bucked the trend. Writer Jay Faerber spoke to CBR News about the book's longevity and what's next.

This is a series I've been interested in getting into but have hestitated because it is so far along - is there any chance Image will collect it into hardcover edition like Invincible & Walking Dead?

I agree, I've seen it on the shelf plenty of times but have not seen a trade, and my local stores don't stock back issues beyond the last 2-3 issues, so I've never been able to get into it.

After reading what Jay Faerber said, I would agree, I've not seen a lot of buzz around this book, but perhaps I've not been looking in the right places to be fair. After reading about it, I'm interested enough to pick up the first few issues, or a trade of them if available.

Hi, guys -

Trades are most certainly available for the book. We've got five of them so far, and they're all still available from Diamond. Your stores should be able to get them for you, but you can also order them from any online retailer like www.milehighcomics.com, www.mycomicshop.com, or www.midtowncomics.com.

Thanks for asking!

Cheers for the info, I'll go and bug my local comic shop to order one in for me.

Yeah, Noble Causes rocks. And it's well collected. If your not reading the series.

Start.

Fran's departure is a bit disapointing. He was an amazing artist. But Jon Bosco looks to have a handle on things, we'll see where that goes.

Hey Jay, really love Noble Causes.

Question: Did that miniseries starring the true "Noble" doctor come out?

No, that was a weird situation. It was called S.T.A.T. and the comic was the brainchild of Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Antony Johnston. They were pitching it to Jim Valentino, and one of the characters was related to a big family of super-heroes. Jim told them that Image already had a family of super-heroes, and suggested maybe there was a way to tie the two books together. I played along and let the guys make their character a Noble relative, and even let them run a preview of the book in one of my NC: Extended Family anthologies. But the book evaporated and has never seen print. I don't know of Abnett & Lanning have plans to get around to it someday, but it's dead as far as I'm concerned.

Sweet! NC got some notice on CBR!! And so did I. :D

I originally ordered Noble Causes way back in the day from Preview catalogue because it looked and sounded cool (and Billy Dallas Patton was on board for art). Shortly after ordering, I was signed on to letter. I've loved every minute of the book since then. Definitely one of my favorite reads in comics. And, yeah, that's a biased opinion, but it's truthful, too. I really love this book! I'm really invested in each of the characters (just finished issue 20 and it's a doozy!!)

Go get the trades. They're a great addition to any collection. Lots of new stuff to comics that you're missing out on if you don't get it.

Yeah, that totally sounds like a salesmen, but still. Get the books. They're Grrrrreat!!

I'm one of the readers of the trades (I know that isn't showing full support--but I got into it late and I tend to buy trades of comics I really really like that I came to late--e.g. Fables.) they are not terribly hard to find where I am (although volume 2 was a little scarce)

this comic is excellent. interesting plot, art is fantastic. the drama and humor are very strong here. and there is enough action to satisfy.

Not sure why this isn't more popular. I put this in a league with Invincible. As an interesting take on superhero celebrity-- similar in some was to both astro city and powers--except the superheros are much closer to the camera. and certainly this is no 'cheap copy'
