ok, i havent purchased or heard any of these yet but i was wondering if anyone had?
the first sounds record i listed to on repeat for like a month straight but i havent touched it since. if the second one is going to have the same lack of replay value, i might try and burn it.
new morrissey i am sure will rule. i loved you are the quarry, even though many a hipster claimed they didnt like it.
the new public enemy- rebirth of a nation- well...paris is doing the production instead of terminator x. this is a little disheartening, but if they did have to have someone else (why did they? anyone know), at least it was someone who is, historically, good. mc ren also raps somehwere on this apparently, and i am kind of curious to hear what it sounds like.

I haven't bought it yet, but I listened to the whole Morrissey CD on My Space and it was very good.

Terminator X has never done production for Public Enemy, only scratching and mixing. He's dropped out of the group for several years now, having been replaced by DJ Lord. I believe you're thinking of the Bomb Squad, and I think the last time they got full production credits on a PE album was for the soundtrack to He Got Game.

I'm boycotting Morrissey because he's boycotting me.

I still say that you should decieve him that you are dying so that you can take the opportunity to smack him at the inevitable dying wishes concert with a baby seal.

Upon one full listen of the new Morrissey, I'm slightly disappointed. It seems a much mellower affair than Quarry was and kind of less catchy. Hopefully it's a grower.

I listened to the new Sounds record on MySpace a few weeks ago. I didn't know anything by them and had only seen them two or three times on tv shows, so I wasn't sure what I was getting into. But I liked it and listened to it a few times over a week or so. You mentioned their first record didn't have much replay value...I can see where this new one might be the same way. Again, I'm new to this band, but after a few listens it lost a bit of appeal to me. I think it was very good and unique, but I don't know how it compares to their other work.

I remember not liking the first album when I heard it, but the new one seems to have grown one me. I really like it, but I can see where it would get old after a while.
IMO the new Morrissey album is just as boring and mediocre as all his other solo stuff.

Premier is both, he was pretty much rap's go to guy for years, doing production work for a whole lot of big names aside from his work as producer (AND as deejay) for Gang Starr.
I think JMJ did production work (for Onyx, at least) but his role in Run-DMC was as a deejay though I remember reading that he helped pick a lot of the samples for their early albums (produced by Rick Rubin).
An interesting thing I found while reading up about the new PE album is that Paris not only did the music for the album, he also wrote most of the lyrics. Interesting.

Got the new Morrissey album.
It is a wierd thing, it is a legimately really good album with everything meshing very well and it having its own distinct identity but it has no "classic" tracks on it, which means it will probably be looked upon as an interesting curiosity more than anything as time goes on.
I really advise you to get it though, happy Morrissey, hell truly has frozen over, there is still anger and angst and melancholy abound, but primarily this guy is happy.
Scary stuff.

To be honest, I love the new Morrissey CD, and I actually find it better than "You are the Quarry" (which was great too)-the new one i a bit more boppier-I really like it.

I'm not really in any kind of financial position to be, you know, buying stuff, but my college's radio station had the new Morrissey on its add list, so I gave it a listen. I'm not much of a fan of Morrissey or even The Smiths, really, but I dug the new album.
