Has anyone else noticed that for about the past month of so that the middle pages of DC comics have been coming loose of the staples as soon as you open the book to read it?
Its really annoying and for the amount we are paying for the comics we deserve to have something that will last and DC should be able to afford a decent stapling machine

I guess when the prices go up to an un needed 2.99 maybe they can buy a better stapling machine, one can only hope

The same damned thing has happend to my Conan comics from Dark Horse. I mean WTF? I've got crap from the 70's and 80's printed on newspaper and you know what? All the pages are still intact! I find it hard to believe that stapling technology is becoming worse. Come on publishers get your act together.
That being said, it's not like I'm going to stop buying comics...

It's happened to me twice in the last six weeks with DC comics. Since I've only bought about 10 DC comics during that time, I consider that a 20% failure rate.
I haven't had this problem with DC comics recently, but I've had some Dark Horse Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic comics that did it.
What issues are you talking about?

Sounds like a defect in the printing company's equipment. If it's a significant amount of the print runs being affected, and the company doesn't catch it and fix it, DC will probably switch to someone else.

Funny enough this happened to me last night for the first time. The middle page in IC #6 came loose from the bottom staple  :(
Sure hope it doesn't happen again...

I've been buying all the OYL titles and haven't experienced that problem yet. Are all DC Comics printed at the same location? If not, this may be a regional phenominon. Though it's still strange that it would have happened both in the UK and Minnesota.

With nearly every DC comic going to second printing, maybe it will be fixed for the NextWave...Uhm...next wave.

"Infinite Crisis Secret Files" was the most notable occurance for me. I actually let out an audible gasp.
for the record, I live on the west coast (south bay area), and it's not happened to me once, not even close. I too wonder if this is a regional thing.

Is it from the staple cutting too hard into the paper when it's bent so that it rips out a gap for the staple to slip through, or is it from the staple not being punctured enough through all the paper to keep a hold on the paper?

It is the former for me. It just shreds right through the page. I'm glad someone made this thread. This has happened to me a couple of times over the past year, and only DC books. I was reading Infinite Crisis 6 last night, turned the page at the middle of book, and -shwoop- it falls right out. I am TO'd, for sure.

I think that I'm going to flip through books before I bring them to the cash to make sure specifically that them center page is intact. I was pretty pissed when this happened to me. We paid enough money for these books, the least the publishers could do is try to present a quality product. :evilangry

This happened with two of the marvel comics I bought this week.
