So I went to Sam's Club tonight and found some great deals on TV box sets:
Tru Calling Season 1
Dark Angel Season 1 & 2
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 1
Angel Season 1
Millenium Season 1
Firefly Complete Series
The Lone Gunmen Complete Series
Wonderfalls Complete Series
And I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting. All for $17.88 each!
They also had Married...with Children Season 1 and All in the Family Season 1 shrinkwrapped together for a whopping $19.88. They had seasons 2 through 4 shrinkwrapped together as well but I didn't look at the prices.
Anyway if you like that kinda stuff it's cheap at Sam's right now. I got Millenium and hid (for my next check) The Lone Gunmen myself.
The problem with this is that the selection varies by store.

Why is that a problem? If you buy TV DVD sets you should check it out. Whatevers there it's cheap. You might find something you like.
Maybe "problem" isn't the right word. What I was saying is don't expect all of those sets to be at every Sam's Club.

Sounds like Fox is doing a discount on all their Season 1 Boxed Sets again. I've seen this at Best Buy before. Picked up Dark Angel and Angel for about $20 a piece.

For under forty dollars a season I bought all six seasons of Highlander and all five seasons of Babalyon 5. When I get more money I’m going to purchase Star Trek Deep Space Nine

Don't you have to be a member of Sam's to shop at Sam's Club?

No, but if you aren't they charge you an extra ten or fivteen percent on your purchase.

There are quite a few series that in many stores right now you can pick up the first seasons for under $20.00 - Angel and The Shield are two that come to mind.
Also Sam's has had a lot of their TV shows much cheaper than other places for quite a while. I picked up the first four seasons of Smallville for $18.00 a piece a while ago, the first three seasons of X-files for $28.00 a piece, and have seen many others for similar prices. And all the Star Trek shows have dropped down to something like $40.00 a season when just a few months ago they are around $100.00 a season.

10% on top of $17.88 is still pretty darn cheap. I'm almost tempted to go and finish off my collection of Dark Angel and also grab Firefly. Dark Angel was one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows. The kind where you know it's not very good, but you can't help watching anyway.

Yeah. Supposedly you can get a free one-day membership, but the stores I've been to have stopped that recently (recently being a year ago). Or at least claim to have stopped doing it. I dunno. I mean they are part of the evil empire we call Wal-Mart.

Thanks Gremlin. I finally made it to Sam's yesterday, and snagged myself a Wonderfalls set. I've wanted to buy that series for a good while now.
They also had "Arrested Development" Season 1 and "Malcolm in the Middle" Season 1 for $17.88. I think "Murder One" Season 1 was the same price as well. They only had a single "FireflY" set, though. Presumably it's sold well.
And they also had all four "Batman: The Animated Series" sets for $21.55 apiece. I'm fighting that temptation.

There was a coupon in my newspaper last week that offered a free one-day membership to Sam's. Maybe that's their new approach.
