I'll try to keep this thread going even if I don't have a comp right now.
Here is the list of the fighters in this season of TUF.
Lightheavy
"Count" Mike Bisping (Wolfslair)
Tait Fletcher
Jesse Forbes
Matt Hamill (Meat Truck Inc.)
Josh "Bring The Pain" Haynes (Quest/New World Fighters)
Noah Inhofer
Mike Nickels
"The Weather Underground" Kristian Rothaermel
Middle
Danny Abaddi (Victory Martial Arts)
"Spider" Kendall Groves
"Short Fuse" Ed Herman (Quest)
Solomon Hutcherson (Freestyle Academy)
"The Gladiator" Ross Pointon
Rory Singer "Version 2.5"
Kalib Starnes
Mike Stine
Coaches
Ken Shamrock
Tito Ortiz
Records at http://www.sherdog.com
Notes: There are an awful lot of ronin in this bunch. This could be good. Ones to look out for in the lightheavy's definatly Matt Bisping. He's held both of England's MMA titles and is the man to beat in England in the Lightheavy div. If I were to go out on the limb, I'd say the sleepers might be Imhofer and Kristen. Middleweights...I gotta be honest with you, it's a shoot. Besides Groves and Herman, I totally lack knowedge to get a proper read. It's up in the air at this point.

I'm really hoping that Ortiz and Shammy's grudge doesn't over shadow the series.
It looks like PUNISHMENT has the edge over Team Shamrock. Dean Lister holds two Abu Dahbi championships. That is the highest award in grappling. The dietician...has to go. Or keep him on for both teams. Having no one to counter Lister is a bad move.
I would love to have Hamill at my school. I'm not saying that because he's deaf either. The dude is a natural learner and has that urge to learn oozing out of him.
I didn't know much about Kalib Starnes, but after seeing him make short work out of Mike Stine, He is definatly one to look out for.
I also want to give Herman a hankie.

i love the new format of the show, leave out the lame ass challenges if they're not going to be MMA related.
i definitely have noticed a trend the past three seasons though, if a fighter is one dimensional, it's a pretty good bet he's going to get his butt kicked. the guys that have ground game just are too tough and are willing to eat a punch or two, take it to the mat and kick some ass. starnes whipping stine seemed almost a foregone conclusion after listening to the fight strategies...

Yeah good fighters are going to lose matches to people they would have beat if the coaching was morr level.
I doubt cummo would have beat sammy or hung with joe if he didnt have all that time with hughes.
Titos camp is going to make better fighters, while ken's is simply maintaining talent.

I missed it but I'm going to catch a repeat I'm sure. I have to set my DVR to record it again. I saw a couple of minutes and I was impressed with the subtle changes in the style of the show. The first season was so boring that I couldn't stand to watch it. Little improvements to up the entertainment value looke like they have paid off this season. I'll post more when I've seen more.

Eh. I'll give you Joe, but that was 100% Luke kicking Sammy's ass. No way could Hughes teach Luke that stuff.
I do agree with your assessments of the camps though.

Wow! Beautiful jujigatame by Noah. Joss still needs some experiance. One shouldn't live on confidence alone.
Let help you understand a bit about Mike Bisping. He comes from Wolfslair, one out of two established schools in England. What make Wolfslair so great is that it is mentored by former PRIDE heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria. Nogueria instilled a lot of Brazilian Top Team's philosophy into Wolfslair. One of the pillars of BTT is that "We are Brothers." You learn, we all learn. Weither you have a disability or not. Mike doesn't hate Hamill because Tito is taking more time with him. He's just not used to folk getting a bit more help than usual.
Bad move by Shamrock for not training. Even worse for Shammy not addressing the concern of Starnes. It looks to get worse next week.

Sorry. This a bit overdue.
I feel bad for Ross. He really needed the ground training to at least defend from Kendall's advances. I fell that's going to be Ken's fault. He has no one to counter Lister's training. If he gt his brother, Frank, then they'd have a chance.
Now, Shammy isn't going to show this week. If it's because of personal issues, that's ok. If it's because they lost twice to submissions, that's total BS. That would be so wrong. It's not their fault they lost that way...It's his! I definatly seeing an almost decimation of Team Shamrock if they continue the path.

That was a pretty amazing asskicking. If he can improve is ground game and takedown defense he will be in the finals. If he runs into Matt and his ground game has not risen he will be in trouble. Matt can take him down and hold him there.
But Bispings standup is sick he almost remaineds me of Shogun Rua in style.

if Matt wants to play Enson Inoue, he's got to take what he's giving. Sad, I know, but they told him he was getting a bit rough. He just got a taste back.
Noah's an idoit for passing up this chance. If your woman don't know or can't handle what you do...*beep* it. If she don't know by now, she ain't for you mate. so...have fun chasing that *beeep*, cause it'll lead you nowhere.

NO! Noah proved he was a pussy and quit because he got a letter from his GF saying that she heard that he was cheating on her. So he went home and tried to fix things with his GF of 6 freaking months.
It was a setup if you ask me. The fighters are not allowed any contact with the outside world. No TV, newspaper, magazines and phone calls or letters from family and friends.
So how did Noah get this letter. Maybe Dana wanted to add some drama and set it up?

Yeah. It was supposed to be Matt/Tait, but Matt decided to spar "yamato damashi" (old spirit) style and ended up getting his bell run by Kendall and Haynes. So it's Haynes/Tait. Going 100% is great if you're studying at PUREBRED, but this is a competition. No need to get that rough.
I think the reason we got to see Noah's wussification and expulsion, is that...I guess Dana didn't know how to explain it, so he showed everybody what was up.
If I was Dana, I'd crucify the guy who thought it was cute to send the letter.
Also...little bit off topic. I'm not being mean or anything, but I'm seeing a lot of casuals looking at a guy's fight record and thinking that because a guy has 40, 50 fights under their belt, he a badass fighter. It's not like boxing folks. You can have a hundred fights under your belt and it won't mean nothing unless you fight quality fighters. A promoter can look at your record and if he sees a couple of upstart or vetern names on it, he's going to want to pick you up for a card. That's a sexy record. If your record is filled with rookies and hasbeens, promoters are really going to be reluctant to pick you up.
That's why Bisping is such a big deal. He might have 10 fights under his belt, but he fought ten quality fights and has the belts to prove it.

I'm thinking some kid from SPIKE thought he was being a good sameritian and decided to give the letter to Noah without comfirmation. No way is Dana wanting to let go of a stud like Noah.

Dude I have no motivation to compete on any level and I train harder than Ken pushes his guy's. Just to keep in shape and have fun. But I heared for years that the Lyon's Den trained like animals i guess that is false or Ken just does not give a shit about this kids.

I think that when your team is resorting to working out in their backyard since you aren't training them enough, if you were Shamrock, you would decide to put them in the gym more often.
I guess I missed a week somewhere, and I haven't watched the last one so he might have stepped up the training since, but man, his team hasn't won another since the first fight, right? You would think that he's get a clue. I guess he's just too dumb to be a coach? His confrontation with Ortiz was pretty stupid.

I mean the guy got his ass knocked the hell out by Rich Franklin and more recently by some Japanese gy I've never heard of...he's on the downward spiral to "has-been" and that can't sit well for the "World's Most Dangerous Man"...
He's taking a stab at showing the world he can teach on the UF3 and is doing such an half-assed job it's not even funny...I'm amazed kids go to his school at all anymore...

Kazushi Sakuraba. MMA legend that beat four Gracies with old skool Pro Wrestling.
Abaddi hasn't fought yet, but by the way things look, he might get Herman. Herman's no joke. The guy is one of the top students of Quest. So Abbadi is going to have a long night ahead.

How much training are they really gonna take in from Ortiz and Shamrock...if the fighters are already strong grapplers then chances are thats how the will remain...being coached at this point prolly isn't going to change that much is it??
So if this Herman guy is already an awesome fighter then chances are he's gonna remain an awesome fighter regardless of how shitty a coach Shamrock is...
No...??

This should be true, but it isn't. In addition to Tito coaching, he's got Dean Lister there helping him on the ground elements. Lister is one of the foremost authorities on groundwork. He's also got Saul, who's his personal Muay Thai coach. Big edge for Tito. Who does Shammy have for groundwork and standing? Nobody. He brought a nutritionist and a boxing coach.
So while some fighters are good, If you were on Tito's team, you'd be made better, where as if you were with Shamrock, you'd retain the last thing you know at your own school. Sure, you'd improve a little with the guys around you, but you wouldn't be making leaps and bounds like PUNISHMENT has.

Ortiz is really getting in there and teaching his team what he knows and what the other coaches know, after he drills the shit out them.
The other team has to run around their backyard to get a workout....

I hated Ortiz with a passion before TUF 3 and now I respect him and actually liking the guy. He really seems to care about his team and he wants them to do well not just to make him look good but for themselves as well.
He just impressed the hell out of me with his training style and his work ethic. He knows that MMA is one of the toughtest sports in the world and to be great you have to push yourself beyond what you ever thought possible. And he is teaching that to his team.
Ken could care less and he only seems in it for the Hummer. The SUV not the one he gets from Dana.

He'll get somewhere someday.
He's still too green though. I garentee the same with Jess.
If they make it, that's cool, but this is a learning experiance none the less. If they go out, they go out better fighters.
Sad part is that half of them didn't learn.

Mike and Matt should hang their heads in shame after that fight. Yes both guy's showed heart but that was the sloppiest MMA fight I have seen in quite awhile. God Mike fought the entire time with his eyes closed and his head down and just throwing weakass shots. Matt was a bit better but not much. A more technical striker would have picked Mike apart inside of 2 mins.

Yeah. I'd been looking forward to seeing Matt in action for the entire season.....crap. Matt did a good job in sticking with his game plan though. He's just strong enough to fight with his hands down and throw sloppy punches. I don't know what Mike's problem was. Matt must have rocked him harder than it seemed with one of his opening shots.

Did I hear correctly when Mike said he fought in Streetfights against more than one guy?
Unless he was banging with Bert and Ernie I think he is full of shit. Although he never said he actually won any of those fights. That was hands down the worsed stand-up I have ever seen in a " Pro" fighter.
I am convinced TUF is a work now more than ever. They did not cast the best fighters they could. They cast the best characters they could. Matt being deaf, Mike having heavy tats and the dude with is son and brain tumor for drama.
They might as well give the LHW trophy to Mike B now and save the others a beating.

And Matt.....*shakes head*. I saw tons of times he could have ended that thing. Matt went Rulon in that match. That sucked. He's supposed to be from Meat Truck too!?! Jeez.

Matt is out due to an arm injury and Mike is out with a broken nose so they asked Tait to come back and he freaking declined the offer. So Dana being shocked asked Christian to come back and he also declined and so Dana was speechless at this point and could not figure out what to do. Then it hit him and he brought in Ross and asked him to move up from 185 to 205 and Ross was all over it and said hell yeah. Then Dana made the LHW semi-finals and Josh will fight Jesse and Mike will fight Ross. Dana then made the MW Semi-final and Kendall will fight Kalib and Rory will fight Ed.
First up is Kendall and Kalib. The fight is pretty much dead even after two rounds. Then at near the end of the 2nd round Kendall catches Kalib with a knee in the side and Kalib says his ribs is cracked when he goes back to his corner and when they come out for round 3 Kalib makes the verbal tap out and Kendall Grove is finals bound.

Why are these guys here? Tait and Christian won't come back, Kalib with 5 mins to go won't suck it up and work thru the pain for a shot at his dream.
I know I am being an arm chair fighter but damn man if you have the dream of being a fighter you should be willing to walk thru the fire and come out the other side.
I wonder if Tait and Christian realize that as long as Dana White is alive they will never be in the UFC. They blew any chance they EVER had by not manning up and going for it.
It is pretty sad state of affairs when in a USA show Dana White declares " Thank God for f**cking England.

And as far as Ross goes he might not have the best record or even great skilld but the man is a true fighter and really wants his dream. I think he will get beaten like a ho who did not give her pimp his money in the fight with Bisping but he has given himself a chance at a future in the UFC regardless of the outcome. He has Dana's, Tito's and Ken's respect and that can open some doors.
WAR ROSS!
And the worse part of the show was Kalib telling Kendall his rib was broken. WTF is that. You NEVER EVER tell the guy across the ring your hurt.
And he was full of shit too. When you are gassing and break a rip you can barely talk and hardly take in a breath in hurts so freaking bad. Ken is 100% percent right on target with what he said about Kalib. And there was not redness or swelling and those two things that happen quick.
Kalib should go watch Silva vs Cro-cop and learn what a fighter does with broken ribs. He guts thru it and finishs the fight. And Silva ribcage was destroyed in that fight but that is what makes a champion.

Everything went as I expected it too. Josh and Mike B are in the finals with Ed joining Kendall for the middleweights.
Josh vs Mike B- have to go with Mike, 1st or 2nd round TKO
Kendall vs Ed- I am actually picking kendall to win the fight by DC after all three rounds.
And Am I wrong in this or did Shamkrock tell Bisping to watch out for Ross right in the fight. ahhh Ken wrong fighter dude.

You're not wrong, he did. I thought maybe he was trying to intimidate Bisping, but Ken is an idiot, so I doubt that. I think he just forgot, or didn't care who he was supposed to be helping.
His career will be over soon, once Tito beats him silly again. After watching this season of TUF, I wouldn't be surprised if Ken's coaching career was already over. He's terrible, and doesn't seem to care, or even know what the hell he's talking about.
This was a really weak season of The Ultimate Fighter, and really makes the UFC look like the little leagues full of whiny babies. Most of the fights this season were a joke.

I think that Tito has grown up over the last couple of year, having a kid and getting beat down a few times does that to people. I'm surprised Dana put up with Shamrock's crap but I guess because the season was so bad they had to play up the drama.

If you have three people saying that Shamrock's training worsened they're conditioning. Then you really have to rethink the rivalry aspect of the show. Sure there's TV editing, but with actual proof...this just drops Shammy's stock hard.

Man, The season may have sucked but what a damn finale. My picks where both spot on in winner and method of victory and all the fights where plain awesome.
Kendall verse Ed- was just amazing, both guys just put on a show of groundfighting I have not seen in awhile. Awesome fight.
Bisping vs Josh- Bisping if he keeps his head on right has a huge future in the UFC. The guy has all the skills to be LHW champ in two years or so. Josh show amazing heart and a never say die determinatio that Dana I know loves so will will see more of him.
I would have liked the fight stopped about 30 seconds sooner. I was watching the fight at my gym with a bunch of fighters and some where saying outloud " Stop the damn fight John, it's fucking over".
The biggest shock of the night was Florians dismantling and owning of Stout. I guess he really is a force at 155 rather than fighting at 185 which is amazing he made it to the finals to begin with.

It seems that this last season irked Dana as much as it irked all of us. The show is being totally overhualed. All the fighters will be people who have already proven themselves in the octagon, and they will be fighting for a title shot. Forgive the quadrupal post, but i just watched Kid Yamamoto VS Genki Sudo and i couldnt of been more dissapointed. For the first five minutes of the fight they were taking turns circling each other. There were like three short exchanges in which both fighters seemed to timid to try and deliver any real damage. at about the 5.5 minute mark the kid scored a take dwn and he sat in Sudo's guard untill the ref stood them up. Then comes the weakest finish ever. From the corner kid knocks sudo dwn with a left, sudo might of just tripped i couldnt really tell from the angle. The ref then prematurely stops the fight after kid lands four unanswerd punches from sudo's butterfly guard. Neither fighter looks so much as winded after the stoppage.

Four or five unanswered punches are usually the stopping point for a ref. Sucks, I know but it's better then Tim Sylvia's "flash" knockouts.

See that is what I thought too. I thought Josh's knee was off the floor. I don't know if Big John is slipping or what. The fight should have been stopped sooner than it was. There was no need for Josh to take some of that beating.

I think that, with Shammy...pretty much not giving a crap, Team Shamrock had to make due with what they had. So instead of Shammy/Tito, it was Tito/Ed & Kalib. I got to give credit, team Shamrock did their best to win, they just got beaten by better experiance. This in turn, affected the house living. If the fights weren't as one-sided, if things were a bit more even, I think the home living would have been better.
You think it was bad in the house, you should see it competition time. Everyone goes to Big Bear Hill, The Wash./Ore. wilderness, middle of Iowa, hell even the desert to get that kind of uninterupted training time.
