Anybody else picking this up this week?
Between his work on Supermarket and DMZ I'm on a feeding-frenzy for Wood.
My only real concern about the book is that plot reminds of John Wagner's A History of Violence and there might be some overlap. If so, that won't ruin the story for me, but will diminish a bit of its impact.

Wasn't aware of this, my LCS didn't have a copy on Wednesday. The summary, for anyone else on the outside:
In a remote coastal village in Northern Scotland, the choice between money and happiness has never been clearer or carried such deadly consequences. When Moss arrives, he is accepted as what he appears to be: a somewhat grubby American backpacker on holiday. Gradually the town begins to realize just who it is they're harboring: a Special Forces soldier turned drugs smuggler. If that wasn't bad enough, he has a lot of really rough bastards riding into town after him. The safety of the town and the woman he loves vs. the successful conclusion of a very lucrative drug deal... which will Moss choose?
I'm down with that. Still waiting for my Couscous Express/The Couriers trades to arrive...

Yeah, it was solicited for this past week but I guess it was delayed. I did get my hands on the second printing of Local #1, though. So: gravy.

Was it delayed? I didn't get to the store until Wednesday night, could have sold out.
Can anyone confirm its arrival/delay for the past week?

It's on the Diamond confirmed list for this week, so it should be out Wednesday.

Hmm, where's the confirmed list? I usually go by the expected shipping ones, namely this one for April 12 (http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/expected_041206.txt).

I finally found it at the third comic shop I looked. And...............
I was kind of disappointed. I don't feel like I didn't get my money's worth, but it was everything I expected and nothing else, if you get why that's a criticism.
For those who have read it, did it seem like A History of Violence-Lite to you?

There are two places to get the updated list - Diamond updates the actual shipping list and the tentative/expected shipping list every Monday. So usually about mid-day Monday (East Coast US time) you can get the actual Diamond lists. However, Midtown Comics (http://www.midtowncomics.com/) (click on "Weekly Releases - in-store pickup" on the sidebar) also posts their "invoiced shipping" list from Diamond early Saturday mornings, which is almost always exactly the same as the list Diamond doesn't post until Monday.
There isn't usually much difference in what's shipping from DC and Marvel between the "expected" and "actual" lists, but if you follow comics from any other company, the difference is huge.

I've been down with Wood's work since Channel Zero so I picked up The Tourist. I have yet to have a bad reading experience with Wood.

Has anyone ever seen the movie "Breaking the Waves" by Lars von Trier (1996)? I watched it in some weird film class in college; it takes place in northern Scotland where the main character works in an offshore oil rig. Anyway that's about where the similarities end with The Tourist, but the movie definately shapes my interpretation of Wood's new book. If anything it (the movie) helps provide a pretty accurate portrayal of the setting of the book, maybe adding some social or geographical dynamic to your understanding of life in northern Scotland...and work on an oil rig (which is badass). The movie is actually kind of disturbing, though really well done. Someone go rent it and drop an interesting post.
So The Tourist is cool...im about 2/3rds done (i like to take my time) and really falling for Brian Wood, right now DMZ is probably my most anticipated comic monthly.
