View Full Version : Musical Simpsons question

Here's hoping someone who's a big fan of both the Simpsons and music can help me out here.

In the episode Future-Drama Homer and Bart are tooling around in the first flying car ever built and end up in a quantum tunnel. Coming out the other side they gain Bender from Futurama as a new passenger. Homer dumps Bender out and he and Bart arrive at Moe's tavern.

My question is What is the name of the song that plays as the scene unfolds. I've heard coutless times and I can never figure out what the title is or who sings it. The refrain goes "What a beautiful world it could be. And what a glorious time to be Free." It sounds like it might be Steely Dan but I can't be sure. Can anybody help me?

BTW, I tried to look for the song over on IMDB and they don't list it.

Good guess, but it's only from one half of Steely Dan. It's from Donald Fagen's solo album The Nightfly. It's called IGY.
