View Full Version : Lost in Space... with the Hulk.

After reading NA:Illuminati I'm interested in Hulk's off planet adventures. Can anyone fill me in one how long he's been gone and what he's been up to, I've not followed Hulk in a long time. Is he some kind of Gladiator? Didn't Superman already do that?

He got tossed into space two months ago.

The current HULK storyline, "Planet Hulk," has Hulk landing on a planet where (at least initially) he's not the strongest one there is. Taken as a slave, he's forced into gladiatorial combat where he injures the ruler of the planet. He is then sent to a prison camp that trains gladiators (with a high casualty rate). Teaming up with some other gladiators, he survives and is approached by a rebel faction looking to overthrow the government.

We're only two issues in, and it's pretty good. There are some superficial similarities to the "Warworld" storyline in Superman, but it ends up being pretty different. Less angsty, more action-oriented. That sort of thing.

And both are pretty severely indebted to Burroughs' John Carter stories. If anything, they're all homages/rips of that. Hulk's insectoid buddy kind of looks like a Green Martian, for that matter. Even moreso on the covers.

I totally agree. I picked up the first two parts of the sotry today. So much fun. Great art. The Hulk will go all out on this alien planet, cant wait to see him amped up without the writers having to worry about levelling Earth cities. :D

Hulk Smash (or slash ;)) and no puny earthlings to feel sorry for... or not until he somehow gets back to Earth ;) .

It's definitely worth it. I waiting for Banner to make an appearance and I know it's going to happen. Hopefully, not at the most inopportune time. But, it will be unfortunate when it happens.

I think that's going to happen in the new story in the Giant-Size Hulk issue that comes out in June...the one with the Champions story and reprint of Hulk: The End.
