Ok after reading the New Avengers Special it left me wondering one thing.

How could Tony trust the Government especially Shield with everything dirty going on. IE the new avengers arc with the breakout at the prison, Madame Hydra, Spider Woman's Loyalty and of Course Nick Fury working from underground.

I hope they address this. I'm not sure If Millar knows what shield's status.

Well, the thing is SHIELD and the US government aren't exactly the same thing.

Case in point, SHIELD already knows MOST of the heroes identities so I doubt they give a dam whether they register themselves or not.

He doesn't say he trusts the government.

His position, which is not one that I agree with (I'm with Dr. Strange), is that this stuff in the government is going to happen regardless, and he believes the best way to diffuse it (his word, I wonder if he meant "defuse," but whatever) is to be involved from the get-go, so as to soften the impact and maybe make things go better for the heroes. He thinks that resisting/fighting what's going to happen from Day 1 will only make things worse in the long run.

So he doesn't trust the government; rather he believes being proactive as far as being involved will have a better outcome than just letting things happen or reacting only after the fact.

Yeah. That also makes it a lot easier to sympathize with Tony, even if you disagree. He's not just blindly "for registration." This is shaping up to be a truly ideological war, as well as a physical one.

Not to mention, Tony Stark doesn't have to trust the government. Given who Tony is, there's a damn good chance he can be the government.
