i'm sure it happened prior to this, but since jeepers creepers, every new movie has new stars. they're new to me, or i haven't seen their other work. but it seems more of a drive to create new fan bases for a multitude of 'celebs'. i guess there's two points to this move. one, you can have a larger body of actors working, which creates demand for more movies with new favorite actors, and eventually creating more new movies that are possible to creat. and the second, 'new' stars get paid far less. i'm not a judge of acting ability, if the movie was good, the actors were 'good' for me.
it just seems there are sooooo many new movies with people i've never heard of.

yes and no. i like to see new talent emerge, but it pulls away from established people that i already want to see in a new endeavor. i'd much rather follow the career of 20 or so actors i love, rather than get involved with someone's career that just don't cut it. sounds like comics ;)

When it comes to movies, I'm not necessarily concerned with following someone's career, as I am seeing a good movie. There are lot of established actors who have essentially been playing the same character for decades. I don't really wanna see another Jack Nicholson movie were he's essentially the same guy he was from One Flew Over The Cukoo's Nest or Batman, or As Good as It Gets. And I'm not gonna support any established actor who insists on doing dogshit(BEN KINGSLEY!!), just because I've been a fan of them for any period of time.
Eventually, there's always gonna be a need for new blood. Seems unreasonable to think there should just be a limited group of actors for a set duration of time that get to work, because anyone new can get a shot.
