I just finished Uncle Sam and I was curious as to what everyone else picked up from the book as symbolism or metaphors, aside from the obvious.

Gawd knows - I blotted that tedious pretentious claptrap from my mind as quickly as I could and sent the book into the ether by way of eBay

I have to say, I quite enjoyed Uncle Sam. Having grown up studying and enjoying the old political cartoons from the 18th-20th centuries, it was great to see them revived in this way. And I empathised with the character's loss of self through the series.

I'll admit that it seemed a bit tedious at times, but certainly not too heavy or hard to get through the entire way, some parts were better than others.

I hear professors at Northwestern University were assigning this in their English classes.

Worth the read when you have time. May not be the most fun or engaging, but an example of a story that can best be told in this medium.
