What I find interesting is that Bendis has reiterated that this book will be a wall-to-wall action-packed slugfest, but the cover of the book is a cute pic of Jessica and Luke getting married.

Can't wait till this comes out!

A wedding picture is by far the most effective way to send the message that a battle royal is brewing. It's a marvel wedding afterall... these things always end up as slugfests.

That is a little weird. Should be interesting all the same if it still holds true.

This maybe a STUPID question, but um... I subscribe to NA and I was wondering if (here goes)... an ANNUAL comes as a standard issue or a separate issue in a one year series.. if anyone knows what I mean?

Peter and Mary Janeīs wedding didnīt end up in a slug-fest.

But Spidey has a secret identity. The Fantastic Four certainly didn't. Luke Cage doesn't.

i love the cover! it is beautiful.

Jessica , too me, is one of the most wonderful people in the marvel universe. I love the fact she is so normal. bendis writes her a dream and gaydos draws her perfectly.

im just damn pissed off at marvel that they first stopped alias and then pulse.

Yea, to make that work, Bendis is going to have to write better then his alias stuff, and that might be hard for him in regards to NA...

I hope it is cool, but I just don't see it.

WHY YELENA BELOVA????
why not the fu$%Ļ&*# boring Jessica Jones?

I'm actually dying to read this because it's Bendis. This is suppossed to be a one shot slugfest action issue... that's SOOO different from Bendis usual take on the Avengers on many different levels. I am curious to see him writing a book that basically has conform to a somewhat more traditional conventional Avengers format.

In that case, I will give it a look. For me, that means that I will flip to a couple of random pages, three or four at the most. If what I see is interesting, I will read a few word balloons. If I'm still interested, then I buy. Sometimes I will miss something really good, like the Watchmen, in which case I will eventually realize my mistake and run back to pick up all the back issues.

The only way this book would make me buy it if it was CAPTAIN AMERICA and IRON MAN getting married. So that way it can Tie into Civil Union or was that Civil War?

my question is:

WHY YELENA BELOVA????
why not the fu$%Ļ&*# boring Jessica Jones?Reason #1. Revenge.
Reason #2. She works for the enemy, whomever is behind the corrupt S.H.I.E.L.D.
Reason #3. What else is she gonna do?
Did you did read New Avengers #6?

Makes perfect sense to me. I was hoping for something ala Marvel Two-In-One #31 (http://www.milehighcomics.com/cgi-bin/backissue.cgi?action=fullsize&issue=52075323508%2031%20WHITMAN) ... looks like I'm gettin' something close to that.
True, no 'love connection', and not quite a Hydra 'Monster' as the villain, but this was well setup in #6, and I like the idea. New enemy, built in grudge.

Good one, Trickster...Civil Union. Very clever! :D

Has Bendis ever written a good mass combat? You know, team against team, or chaotic melee? This wedding event might not be so great after all.

Maybe co-write? Nicieza would probably handle the big battle scenes better, but Bendis is the only one who should write Jessica and Luke's wedding, IMO.

I agree. This story is the culmination of what began in Alias and continued in Pulse. This is Bendis baby... no one but him should write it. It just wouldn't be right.

I do agree that Fabian is much better at writing comicbook fights (and he's already proved he can show the Avengers getting their butts whipped so that won't be a problem) ... hell, pick any dam writer and a descent arguement can be made that he's better at doing comicbook fights than Bendis. But this is an opportunity for him to prove he can do a good fight. Since Bendis won't be going anywhere anytime soon, I'm hoping Bendis pulls it off.

I believe that was the case with Spider-Man... but as someone else pointed out his identity is secret. Most villians wouldn't know to crash his wedding. Luke Cage is different. He's a publically known Avenger, so the villians will likely know there will be a nice big collection of heroes sitting in one spot like sitting ducks. It makes for a tempting target to say the least.

only because Sabretooth still had his metal hand mits on. Wolverine headed him off before he could actually get the wedding area. as for slug fest, that came later when Jean threw the bridal bouquet. many an injury resulted from that.

Let's see, Reed and Sue's wedding went all apecrap, Betty turned into the Harpy when she married Bruce, Vision and Wanda's wedding, Vision and Wanda's wedding was filled with so much craziness, it almost took your mind off the fact that a mutant was marrying an overglorified walking Sybian. Rick and Marlo's wedding never actually broke out into a fight, but not for lack of trying. Just doing so would have made Hulk mad.

The most exciting thing that happened at Donna Troy's wedding in Teen Titans was a special cameo appearance by Queen Hippolyta. No rampaging villains.

Vision and Wanda's wedding was filled with so much craziness, it almost took your mind off the fact that a mutant was marrying an overglorified walking Sybian.

I always thought that the wedding of Vision and Wanda got upstaged by the wedding between the kung fu ex-prostitute and the green, glowing, re-animated corpse of her dead lover, now occupied by sentient alien plantlife. Compared to that, even the attack by Dormammu, sorceror supreme of an alien dimension, was kind of a non-event.
