Assuming that Daredevil fits in this forum because he was repeatedly offered an Avenger slot, does anyone truely think that Foggy Nelson is truely dead?

SPOILER:
Last I recall, Matt is in his cell listening and thinking "He's still alive, I can hear his heart beating..."
Then, next issue, he's at a funeral for Foggy.

Why can't he or the authorities, have spirited Foggy away to intensive care somewhere and announced that he died, while he is recuperating? Could this be part of a plan to get DD into prison to "clean up the riff-raff" that the government couldn't do so legally?

I think that the same government agents who have put DD in this prison illegally, are hiding Foggy to get information under duress regarding Matt's role as DD. They are trying to make up for the "loss" of the ficticious Murdock Papers that Fisk said he had.

Was Daredevil ever a member? I know he was invited in Avengers #111 (or thereabouts), but he refused. Black Widow joined at that point. I don't recall him joining at any subsequent point, though it's certainly possible.

Ooops! I recall the offer, and I recall DD frequently declining. (I also recall Spidey flirting with the offer, in Avengers #11... in an annual or two, even in a casting call shake up under Roger Stern... and now...well... we'll see.)

Any who, I thought I'd at least pose the question to see how many feel Foggy's gone, and how many think we don't know the whole story yet....

In Brubaker's second issue, Dakota North says that the medics in the ambulance said Foggy was stabilising. This leads me to believe Foggy isn't actually dead, and that somebody pulled a shifty at the hospital.

Sheesh, don't you ever watch Grey's Anatomy. Just because someone is stabilizing, doesn't mean they can't crash. I'm not saying that that's the case here, but you're drawing an awfully big conclusion from a single line.
