again, possible SPOILER ahead!!!
Borrowed this from a fella at the Batman boards...
Detective 818 summary (allegedly) (http://www.comicboards.com/batman/v...pl=060327052135)
Basically, there's a line that confirms that Superboy bites it at some point, presumably in IC. It's a line from Batman himself.
so there ya have it. discuss.
EDIT: for the sake of proper attribution, this was a link posted thanks to Stillanerd's initial post on the Batman board.

It was highly unlikely it was going to be Nightwing considering he was scheduled to appear in OYL stuff.

oh i kno nightwing wont die, but the whole series threw in little commentary to hint at his grand demise, same for Connor. But i just re-read the spoiler on the detective comics issue, and it talks about Connor dying, but i remember reading a couple things online stating that that upcoming issue would talk about them "losing connor"... so until the issue actually comes out, i wont jump the gun. Perhaps he makes a giant sacrifice (hence the statue in action comics), but im beginning to to think he doesnt die... heck the whole Supernova rumors are still floating round' so who knows!!! I sure as hell hope they dont, too much of a fan base backing him, and just when his character is truely stepping into his own!

I kind of thought when Conner and Cassie had the love scene in the TTA recently, that was a goodbye scene if I ever saw one.
Yeah, I think most of us saw this one coming. It's a shame, though. Connor was one of the best of the post-Crisis characters.

Well, except for that unexplained shift in attitude between Young Justice and Teen Titans. Maybe it was covered in his mag, but I think it may have ended to soon for that. In any case, I felt that they've been building up to this for a while and am glad that it will finally be resolved.

Amen Tom. You would think that instead they could so another Crisis death of a Supergirl since we have had at least 3 post-Crisis. :( Makes you wonder why they would go and change his origin just to do this.

What was Alexander Luthors line?
"No matter what reality, I've discovered that if there is a Superman, there will be a Luthor at odds with him."?
Something like that.
Well, Superboy is both Superman AND Luthor.
Just a thought.
Can't say I didn't see this coming. If it's true. Isn't it a little early for someone to even get a preview copy of a book that's not coming out till April 5th?

The black and white previews come out at least a month early. The color ones are 1 week early usually.

Yeah, I saw a copy too. It's true. :-(
Considering the build-up, and the fact they figure they probably need a few more "major deaths," this makes sense.

If Luthor could clone a human/Kyptonian hybrid once, he can do it twice. Which means that Conner may be gone, but the concept could easily be revived--and no doubt will be--at some point in the future.

This was obvious from the Wizard questionnaire posted a while back. Though I wouldn't be suprised to see Conner back some how.

Of course Luthor would have to somehow tap the personality and memories from Kon pre-mortem.

They did spend quite a lot of time establishing that he has a soul, so there's always that possibility. Although i wouldn't expect it to happen for at least 4 years.

I wonder ... is this supposed to be the "big PERMANENT death" (for at least 20 years), that they promised? We know Nightwing's gonna make it, so is Superman & Batman. Wonder Woman is unknown because not much is known about her new series, but it's been said behind the scenes that she'll make it (in some fashion). The same goes for Flash, while he went "somewhere else," they didn't say he died ... and it's unknown WHICH Flash has come back (not to mention all that rabble about there being different Flashes in the first few issues of the new series).
So, is this it? Superboy? I guess, it's big ... people will miss him. But I don't think it's on level with like the Flash & Supergirl from the first series. *Shrug*

I'm pretty sure Luthor could whip up a machine to copy all that stuff post-mortem, but it'd probably be more interesting for Luthor to bring Superboy back without any of that stuff, so he could be the full-on evil bastard Luthor intended him to be--which would cause no end of heartache and angst for his former friends and family.

In the ending of the future is now storyline, luthor says to conner that he expects a son from that era's conner and cassie, maybe somehow their son would make it somehow to our era as the new superboy

So you'd basically wanna see Kon be The Winter Soldier (except with super powers)?

Yes. I look at today's Conner Kent/Kon-El and really can't see a connection to the character who was introduced during the REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN storyline back in the early 1990s and went on to lead the Ravers for a period in the mid-1990s. Characters evolve and change and that's fine, but Conner's transformation was just a sudden, inexplicable switch from one characterization to another that had no clear logic behind it.

Yeah, just minus the World War 2 stuff, the Cold War stuff, the robot arm, the Cosmic Cube and Captain America feeling guilty about him for 60 years, I want Superboy to The Winter Solider, but with super powers and being a clone of Lex Luthor and Superman...

IIRC, it wasn't Lex who was completely behind Conner. There was another company involved, and originally it was supposed to be a different scientists DNA fused with Superman's, but that was changed by Luthor. Having said that, I'm sure if Lex wanted to make another Conner, he could do so.
