View Full Version : If Jason Todd could meet Superboy-Prime...

If Jason Todd were to meet Superboy-Prime and learn that it was Superboy-Prime's doing that restored Jason to life, would Jason be grateful to Superboy-Prime for giving him a new lease on life or angry at him for not letting him rest in peace?

When you think about it, the two have plenty in common:

1. Superboy-Prime was the second Superboy after the Silver Age Earth-One version. Jason Todd was the second Robin after Dick Grayson.

2. Both are discontented youths.

3. Both feel, to various extents, betrayed by their mentors.

4. Both feel that they were denied a chance to grow up into the heroes they believed they were meant to be.

Superboy-Prime and Jason Todd would be one twisted variation on the World's Finest, wouldn't they?

not likely to happen in that jason doesnt know why he is alive, only that he is.

I could buy that, though Superboy thought that he was fixing things when he punched Jason back to life, and despite his own recent killings, Superboy might not look on Jason's new career with approval. It would be a much more interesting 'anti-World's Finest' than a couple of Bizarros.

Is it wrong that a fangirl part of me wants hot slash action out of this hypothetical meeting? I still think part of the reason Superboy Prime brought Jason back was because he wanted a Robin of his own like Kon had in Tim...*coughs*

If the two were to meet, and Jason knew that Superboy Prime was the one responsible for his return from death I can see one of two reactions depending on Jason's mood; He'd feel somewhat grateful but his natural glibness would not allow it show, so he’d kind of just hang around him a lot and make snide comments about Superboy and Alex’s relationship. Or he’d get frustrated and sock Superboy in the jaw (likely breaking his hand) and angrily point out that bringing him back from the dead was a cruel thing to do if he wasn't going to follow through with it. I mean Superboy brought him back, but he left him physically and mentally damaged and buried in the earth! If not for Jason's own strength of will he could have just died again, much more slowly and miserably than before. Essentially what Superboy Prime did is almost the equivalent of a mother abandoning her new born in a ditch. Sure the infant owes its life to the woman, but she still ultimately abandoned it and left it to fend for itself.

I think Jason would go the hypocrite route and turn him down on any offer and deny they were alike. Jason, and all of the bat-kids, have a lot in common with Bruce in that their ends justify the means, but if anyone else does it...god forbid.

PS- I'm not ragging on the bat-squad...they're my fave characters, but come on, they are a bunch of hypocrites.

They could be a new, crazy superhero team to counter Batman and Superman lol.

"Oh wait. I do know how."

Jason still seems to think of himself as a hero at heart. Superboy-Prime has just lost his mind, or so I imply from the last panel of IC #5. Superboy-Prime "died" once. Jason's died twice now (with no explanation as to how either he or Batman survived that explosion). I expect SP to truly die before IC is over. Jason, being the hero he thinks he is, would try to cause serious injury to Superboy simply for the things he's done. And, because of this and Superboy's insanity, would promptly get himself killed for the third time.

I agree. He would view him as scum and attempt to kill him.

And, because of this and Superboy's insanity, would promptly get himself killed for the third time.
Maybe not, he would know it would be impossible to take him out without kryptonite. He'd make nice with him, go to the Batcave and pilfer some special k to try to kill him. If it would work on him is another debate.

Hey fellow fangirl...

actually after reading the heading for this thred my mind keeps going over possible slash fanfics with Jason/Conner pairings...

No worries about being wrong, part of what being a fangirl is all about!
