.......What materials do you think they'll make Cap's suit out of? In other words, what will it look like in live action? Being that his suit in the comics has somewhat of a "feathered" look, I'm thinking they'll go for a chainmail type material.

I don't care what materials it's made out of as long as it isn't leather and it doesn't look completely stupid.
Even the best made superhero costume looks a little stupid in live action. That's partly why I'd just as soon see no live action superhero movies made and perfectly happy.

Leather backed scalemail would do the trick, I think.

Oh the costume looks good. It should, they spend enough money to make them. It's still a little ridiculous though.

They could make it like the Ultimates Cap, or go with the comics scale-mail. Of either, Id like to see the Ultmate version, but if done right, the scale costume could be pretty cool.

I also think that the wings on his head should look more modern, kind of like the jagged wings you see on The U.S. Air Force logo. Only each wing is on each side of his head, y'know?

Nah, I say forgo the wings entirely. They should definately go with something that looks more like a military uniform.
I really, really liked Ultimate Cap's WWII costume.

I really, really liked Ultimate Cap's WWII costume. They definitely should show that in the film flashback-wise.

Chainmail.
Definitely chainmail.

Chainmail would be cool. But the scalemail seems to be more accurate. Like what you see on some motorcycle jackets.

616 Look!?!?! Heeeell no.They just need to modernize it way more, and it'll look perfect. The costume in the first live-action Spiderman TV show looked shitty too, remember?

One way or the other, it'll be made out of some kind of synthetic material that looks more or less like some other material. Because that's what superhero movie outfits are always made out of. The question is, what will it mimic?

I think if you look at the cover of Cap vol. 4 #1 you can see a perfect version of what the 616 would look like in real life. Scale-mail backed with leather, leather pants, boots, gloves and sleaves, with a molded rubber mask like the one in the first BAtman movie with Michael Keaton.

You could get away with the 616 costume if you make it dark blue and red, and made the wings a bit more stylized, maybe little more then ridges on the cowl..

Yeah, that works.. I'd just make the cowl wings stick out a bit less, sticking to the head a bit more.

Eh id be comfotable with his "Captain" uniform he was wearing when Walker took over as Cap Am.

I'd have a more tradiotional mail-looking red white and blue for his "dress" uniform. But when he's in action, I think the only way to go and have it not look ridiculous would either be some kind of camoflouge color scheme, or something more like a US Agent's.

Except it could never really look like that made out of the materials it is supposed to.

Screw Flashbacks.
Ignore the whole "Man out of Time" angle and make it an awesome WWII Sci-Fi action spectacular! And use the Ultimate WWII costume!

Hmm... Captain America as a period piece.. Interesting concept. And you could always have him frozen in ice at the end of the movie, thawing him out for the sequal...

It's been brought up in various places before. Personally, not that big a fan of the idea, because it means that the movie ends with Cap basically comitting suicide. Better to just have WWII up until the end of the first act, second act is Cap reacclimating to the modern world, third act is him kicking the Red Skull's ass. C'mon, the damn thing nearly writes itself.

Yeah. Cant rush a movie like this.
And I happen to think that a heroic sacrifice is a great way to end a Captain America movie, although they dont necessarily have to do that in the first movie. They could easily do a trilogy set entirely in WW2.

I don't see it. For one thing, let's go over all the previous period superhero movies set in WWII. Phantom. Shadow. Rocketeer. Not exactly lighting up the box office.
Second, you're losing out on so much of Captain America if you're keeping him in WWII. You lose out on the whole man out of time, Arthurian legend aspect that can actually make it a damn good movie. Captain America only in WWII isn't much more than Indiana Jones in blue pajamas. And once you get past the origin, you lose most of what makes him special in the long run.
Think about it. Name a great epic WWII era Cap story. There's The Adventures of Captain America, and that's it. If they can't even do it in the comics, what makes you think they can do it in the movies?

Name an iconic story from any golden age comic besides the origin story.
And listing the various period superhero movies isnt fair. Those movies had many things wrong with them, the time period being the least of them. I could list some things like Indiana Jones or King Kong or The Mummy that were set in that era that did well and were great movies.

I did. Adventures of Captain America was good. But quite frankly it was missing out on much of what makes Captain America such a great character. Now, it didn't have to have those elements, since it was just a mini series. But you're not going to get to the sequel where he hits the ice if it goes the route you're talking about. You have to make the movie as if there isn't going to be a sequel. Put your cards out on the table.

Yeah, and none of them wore brightly colored costumes. So it's not really fair to mention them, either.
