The Comic Book Conventions' dirty little secret...
How much hooking up goes on at these comicbook conventions? Judging by recent posts on the topic, comicbook geeks are quite lustful. Any good hookup stories? Anyone hook up with another CBRian at a convention?
My little brain is curious about the seedy sexual underbelly of the so called "vanilla" comicbook conventions. After all, how can we blame comicbook geeks for wanting to hook up after having to wade through half naked models or women dressed up as their favorite female comicbook characters in tight spandex?
:D

That's a good point. There were a lot of curves at the last con I attended. (...of the non-porn variety, btw. Most of those women do nothing for me.)
It was all good, 'til one vendor mentioned that you've gotta check i.d. before you drool too hard or you'll end up washing your mind out with soap. That's a hard truth, but it was damn sure true.

Well, the only hot chick I saw at the Chicago Wizard Con last year was Pho when I met her and Quarterwolf. There she was with her blonde pigtails and tiny T-shirt. Geez, I almost melted when I saw her. (and Jim turned out to be quite a cutie as well)
Of course, since I'm a retard, I seperated from them thinking somehow I'd be able to find those blonde pigtails again in the massive crowd without a cell phone. Nikita = dumbass.
Had to call them on my old cell phone when I got back to the car and my blonde goddess had left already! I could kick myself for my idiotic brain last year.
Got a new cell phone this year. Hoping I will catch a glimpse of that blonde goddess again... :o
I've been kind of disappointed with the Chicago Wizard Con. Very few women seem to be interested in dressing up at it. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of girls who are there but it's really only the models who are working the shows who put on "outfits". I don't know, I guess the Midwest comicbook geeks are more reserved or something. Course, the Rosemont Convention center for our Wizard Con has a hotel right next to it so I'm sure there is plenty of dirty dancing going on in those rooms.
Another reason I wish I could make it to the San Diego con. You guys have more fun out there!

Actually, last year had the most costumes I've ever seen. I've been to about 10 Chicago cons in the past 15 years and last year was the first time they had a costume parade. (Well actually, it was more of a line-up-and-get-your-picture-taken kind of thing.)
Missed seeing pho and Jim, though. I have a 6-hour drive home so I usually leave around 1ish on Sunday. Maybe this year.

i dont think the reason there wasnt many costumes was because they are reserve. i think its because people dont want to look silly. if i ever go to another con, i'll dress up as conan though

Really? Where? I did not see one chick in a hot costume when I went last year. (except for the models)
Correction: I did see some women in costumes but not the tight spandex type.
I was too busy looking for graphic novels I guess. The first year I went (two years ago), I made an effort to check out the women more. But last year, I was kind of out of it I guess. Hmmm...maybe I'll dress up this year. I'm too out of shape to wear a "hot chick" costume myself but I could dress up as "V" or something. :D
6 hour drive? Yikes. I wish I could afford to go all three days but I'll probably only be able to swing one day this year again too. Maybe Sunday again. (If I could ever afford it and she'd ever consider it, I'd get a hotel room for that Saturday night and "entertain" the blonde goddess privately)
Hope to see you this year Don.

Halloween is silly but I dress up for that too. ;)
I love costumes and unless you're going to a costume party, a convention is really the only other opportunity to see women (and men) in tight spandex. So, I look forward to it.

That is SO true. I even have to remind myself that there are only 16-year-old girls under that tight spandex and makeup. They look so much older sometimes if they dress up. God, I'm such a pervert. I have the brain of a dirty old man. I love that whole "school girl" costume look if I see a young woman who pulls it off well. But then I have to ask myself, ok, how old is she???
I've never hooked up with anyone at a Con, but I would, if given the right circumstances, etc. There are a couple of CBRians I've had crushes on forever but alas, they will always remain Internet crushes. *sigh*

Most hook-ups I know of that happen at cons are when the two people knew each other online first.
Sure there are people who hook-up at cons when meeting there for the first time. But it probably doesn't happen too much.
Think about it. Most females (straight, gay, or bi) at a comic show are either underage, with someone already, there for "professional resaons" or not really interested in hooking up.

I'm always too busy browsing through comics to think about any of that. Too nerdy for my own good. Plus, I walk through cons by myself most of the time and talk to creators rarely- maybe 2 or 4 out of a mass of people.
At SDCC, I spoke to 11ish booth folk, some guys who I thought were cute. Even then, though, it was nerdy conversations.

*sad sigh* I know. It's a damn shame. When I met Aria Giovanni in person two years ago at the 04' Con, I knew a picture with her was all I could ever hope for.

For the longest time I've wanted to go to a con as Jonah Hex. The hardest part would be the makeup. I can't imagine how I would recreate that weird little strip of skin across his mouth without it breaking. When I tried to talk, or eat, or smile, or . . .

I got laid every night of the convention at SDCC last year. There was this really hot Japanese/Thai chick there (I checked her ID to be sure--she was 27), who was dressed in a TNG Science uniform, I was wearing my Yomiko Readman costume that nobody seemed to notice was a costume, and I managed to entice her back to my hotel room the first afternoon and we slept together the reast of the con. It was a pretty good weekend.

I think she may have been a clone or daughter with accelerated aging. Possibly a robot. Or an alternate Earth Emily. It's hard to tell, because the place was just crawling with tiny Japanese/Thai lesbians. I mean, I swear, you couldn't swing a dead rat on a string without hitting one.
No, wait, maybe it was her. I get confused sometimes. Just a second.
[asks Emily]
Yes, it was her. And no, we don't have an open relationship. Unless you happen to be an actress whose last name is Park, in which case, we'll make an exception.

Come October right?
I met my Ex, Chip, at Dragon*con. . and have had more than my share of hookups at cons in the past.
Mostly w/ folks I'd never met before, and won't ever see again. . it's a con, people tend to be fairly "easy" about hooking up. Especially if alcohol is involved.
no comment about in recent years -- Nick keeps me very happy :)

No we met on a message board. We were both "academic advisors" at a general questions message board in the early 2000's (I was children's lit; she was biochemistry/general science), and ended up in the same thread regarding how hormones work in the human body, and it took off from there. After we were banned for turning every thread we went into into a flirt thread* and getting warned about 30 times not to do that, they kicked us out and we had to meet up in person. We must have been vitally important to their success, as they folded a mere three years later.
And yeah, fourth anniversary coming up in October.
Gilda
*It really didn't matter what the subject was. It could be a question like, "If I have green eyes, and my girlfriend has brown eyes, but her brother has blue eyes, what color eyes would our children have?" I'd come in and explain how the eye color genes work to produce brown, blue, and green eyes, and casually mentiong that some full ethnic Japanese have green eyes due to a genetic mutation, but never blue and, oh by the way, Emily has the prettiest eyes I've ever seen, though they're brown and not green. She come into the thread, make a minor correction, then compliment me and pretty soon there would be thirty flirt posts and about a dozen actually related to eye color.
