First question... SBP has been punching the walls of the "paradise" they were in long before Kal-L did in IC#1, right? Am i right in saying that SBP's punches merely created holes or passage way in the walls but Kal-L's punches finally destroyed it?

second question.. why were there no retcon effect in Kal-L's punches?

What's your take on this ?

Well...

A) Superboy-Prime was running on antimatter.

B) Superboy-Prime's powers are undocumented. They were triggered by a comet. He's immune to red sun radiation. We never saw his power levels or even if Kryptonians in his universe had the same powers as other Kryptonians.

C) He's from Earth-Prime, the "real world" where all super-heroes were comic books. We were always led to believe that Earth-Prime comic creators were reporting events from other realities, beamed into their subconscious... But Earth-Prime MAY have been shaping the other earths all along and, if so, Superboy-Prime could have the unique ability to shape reality as Earth-Prime's sole survivor.

Honestly, I can't see any of those as valid reasons. We don't know for sure that he was running on antimatter. Why should he have been? The last person to touch the Anti-Monitor was Kal-L. Point B seems moot since punch on the wall was really only a strength matter, with the continuity shifts being a result. This leads me to point C. He doesn't have the power to punch things and reshape reality. If he did, then something devastating would happen every time he punched something.

Maybe there were and we haven't seen them yet. Or maybe, since the retcon punch SOUNDS so contrived, Kal-L's punch retconned Superboy's previous punches into making these retcons. Yeah...that's it...

It was shown in the IC Secret Files issue that Alex powered SBP up with Antimatter for his final assult on the crystal wall. So he was running on Antimatter the last time, but he wasn't the first few, so the Antimatter wasn't the main reason.

I think the retcon puches just came from the nature of the strange place they were in and Superboy's emotional state. Superman was calm and just wanted out to make his changes, while Superboy was angry and wanted changes made right "now".

Wasn't Superboy actually reacting to the images he saw in the wall? I agree that if E2 Superman didn't have an emotional response when punching, and there weren't any scenes of DC continuity 'activated' in the wall while he was punching, then that is likely the reason for no retcons (assuming his punches didn't cause any).

If i remember in IC#1, Kal-L and the others were viewing some events before he whacked the walls. i think they were viewing powergirl.. but what stirred Kal-l to punch the wall was after Alex ( or was it SBP) whispered " we can even save her" to Kal-L. There was a very strong emotion of urgency to right what was wrong in Kal-L at that moment.

I like that explantaion. It follows along the line of thought that each survived for a reason. Prime because he had the connection to the world where all others were comics ie thoughts in writers heads, so totally changeable. E-2 supes because he is the key to the multiverse, apparently it all goes through him. Alex because he is made of antimatter and lous is the catalyst therefore saved by alex to set it off. It depends on how far back you want to take the plans of alex. Did he know of the importance of each player or not?

Just food for thought
