I did it.

I can't believe I did it, but I did.

I bought the Deluxe 13" Green Lantern figure from DC Direct and it arrived today.

I have to say it looks pretty cool.

Should I leave it in the box? I didn't get it to pack it away and let it gain value, so I know I should just pull everything apart, put away the extra hands and display it in the case with my wifes stuff.

Do you guys keep these things in the box?

Sorry for the dumb question but like I say it's my very first thing of this type. Not just a $10 or $15 action figure, but it was $60. So no not a $200 Bowen, but I may be on my way there.

What do you all do?

Is it articulated? If so, it's a doll/action figure. If not, it's a statue.

Get it out and play with it it for heaven's sake. Who doesn't fly their brand new Green Lantern doll (I refuse to make an artificial distinction beween "action figure" and "doll") around the room pretending to pick up things with his ring and hurl them at Star Saffire (aka, the wife)? Or maybe that's just me.

A statue, on the other hand, is meant for display, not to be played with. I have a few DC Direct statues Both of the Wonder Woman ones are awesome.

If you're worried about resale value, save the box and keep it in excellent condition, as that adds a lot to the value of a collectible, though it won't be MOC (mint on card, or never removed from the box).

But play with it. Toys are meant to be played with.

DONE!

Gilda & Puma you were SO right!!

It's got 26 points of articulation and is a pretty cool doll.

I had no idea though that Hal would actually use his ring to pick up the Remote control and repeatedly launch it into the giant bean bag chair slime monster pummeling it back into the inter-galactic wormhole cave/closet that it came from!

These Green Lanterns are cool to have around!
