View Full Version : Where were Alex, Superman, Lois & Superboy for the past 20 years?

I've heard a new theory about the "Heaven" where Alex took Superman, Lois & Superboy to at the end of Crisis that I thought was uber-cool and I hope DC ends up using it.

The theory is that the mysterious dimension was actually behind the Source Wall from the Fourth World mythology. Given that context, Superboy Prime's retcon punches make a heckuva lot more sense.

This makes a lot of sense, since they said that Alex saw two places they could have gone, one of which was Apokolips (through Darkseid's eyes). It would make sense the other option was Fourth World related too.

That time I mysteriously forgot my girlfriend's birthday a few years back. Someone must have been punching Joe in the ass and changed the date!

Now, Joe, you need to be carefull from now on. Don't go pissing anybody off and get your ass kicked and retcon a DUI into my history or anything.

But, if you get a chance, could you give that behind a smack and erase the haircut I had from '92 to 93? My white man fro was a noble failure but still feels like a black mark on my record.

I'm not sure about this, but I'll give it a shot. I believe the Source Wall is a wall located somewhere near New Genesis. This is built of criminals condemned to live as statues for eternity, considered to be the worst punishment. Recently, Superman shoved Darkseid into it. However, I'm not sure it's been explained if/how he escaped.

Is the Source Wall where Hal Jordan hung out just before his death in Final Night? I seem to remember that that wall (or space object) was explained as the statued remains of the Titans who were defeated by the Greek gods.

In Jack Kirby's Fourth Wall mythology, the Source Wall was a mysterious barrier at the end of the universe that the Old Gods attempted to breach in order to learn the secrets of The Source (which is the Kirby equivalent of God) and, as a result, were forever bound to it as the Promethean Giants. So, it now looks like a bunch of hundred foot tall Kirby-esqe gods bound together into a massive wall in space.

Darkseid has been attempting to break through the Source Wall for years and years now and has been imprisoned a couple times within it as one of the Promethean Giants as punishment for his evil-doings.

What's behind the Source Wall has always been a mystery.....

Also, the Source Wall was only referenced a few times by Kirby and it was Wolfman and Perez who came up with the idea of it being a bunch of hundred foot tall giants imprisoned there for trying to crack the mysteries of the universe.

The Source Wall, as we know it, was basically created by the CRISIS creative team back when they did TEEN TITANS/X-MEN.

I believe Walt Simonson and John Byrne are generally credited with developing the idea the most in recent years.

But since it was basically a Wolfman/Perez extrapolation of a Kirby concept, I think it WOULD be cool if that's where the Paradise Dimension was.
