Remember Young Justice? I loved that title: it was the first (and before this year, only) DC comic that I collected monthly. But I stopped at issue #19. After re-reading the current Supergirl run, I pulled out my YJ issues for a trip down memory lane, and consequently remembered why I quit buying it: those damn crossovers.
First there was the Supergirl crossover, then the Day of Judgement, and finally Sins of Youth. I was loving the current storyline, but after seeing that I would have to buy 10 books the next month to collect the entire story I was turned off.

Now, a crossover once in a while is exciting- I didn't mind buying an issue or two of Supergirl, especially considering that they same writer wrote both book (PAD). But less than 2 issues later was yet another, followed by a third 5 months later! I gave up on Marvel books for the same reason- I hope I don't have stop reading DC books a second time. :(

Marvel comics had it right when they invented the crossover with Secret wars. They had the whole story in a mini series. Those other crossovers that involved multiple books were just a move to increase sales for lower circulation titles.

I think Age of Apocalypse was also done well, as it didn't intrude on any current storyline (unless you read the main X-men title). Of course that cross-over was so good I went out of my way to pick up all of the peripherial issues. The point was, I had an option to and wasn't forced to do so.
