I got the first two volumes, finally, after seeing the anime about 8 years ago.

I love it!!

Man, are you behind! :D

On the plus side, you have an excellent series to look forward to... it's one of my top five favorites of all time. And when you catch up, you can writhe in agonizing torture with the rest of us as we wait 6-8 months for each new volume.

AGONY!

:D

You didn't start with the volumes of Last Order, did you? It'd be an easy mistake to make, given that the numbering restarted there, but Alita is definitely one of those series in which it's best to start at the very beginning, espescially now that Kishiro's bringing it all full-circle.

I finally decided to pick up the series. For the past month I've been reading them. Right now I'm up to vol 8 of the new series. The shop I'm getting them at doesn't have 9. (Is 9 the last volume?)

I love it. I'm a huge cyberpunk fan anyway.

For a photo project, I hope to do some random characters from Alita. I hope to make Alita's broken head and torso from after the fight from around chapter 2 volume 1 before she gets the new body. Going to be doing characters from Blame! too. Already got the Killy costume and a severed safeguard head.

9 is the final volume of the original series, though it's worth mentioning that about half of volume 9 is invalidated by Kishiro's revisions in Last Order. There's a point in the volume (you'll probably be able to figure out where on your own) after which everything that takes place might as well be considered a dream sequence or something... it makes an end to the series as a whole, but it was not the ending Kishiro wanted to do, and so he's drawing the current series now.

You still ought to read 9, if only for closure between the original series and the new one.

I also read the one that first introduces Figure Four about a year after I saw the Battle Angel series. It was the only one available at the time in Borders.
