Kurt's lovely family and my lovely family had a lovely Chinese dinner in Portland at a lovely restaurant suggested by lovely Steve Leiber.
My fambly likes spicy food, which Kurt's fambly mostly does, uh, not.
So he took to calling us the 'Sporpy' side, and his fambly the 'non-Sporpy' side.
So my question is, should Sporpy get his or her own series? There's a possibility that Sporpy is a mutant.
Gail
Is it weird that the word "fambly" bothers me more than "sporpy"?

I would say "yes," because there's simply not enough comics about spicy Chinese food.

AMEN.
However, you haven't had spicy til you've eaten in a non-Western-catering Szechuan restaurant in Beijing. It was, no kidding, like spraying ammonia in your mouth.
OW.
It still burns.

Which just sets up the big conflict: who will be victorious? Sporpy? Or the spicy Szechuan?

Spicy Szechuan IS Sporpy, very much so. But the revese needn't be true.

Already, a shocking plot twist.

I really love Indian food and I often get takeouts from a local place run by a mad bunch of Pakistani guys. They're all nuts and are always laughing and joking as well as playing loud Asian music (which my mum really likes now!)
I love the lamb dishes the most and my favourite is Mekhani Masala which is a creamy curry made with cream, tomatoes and ground cashew and pistachio nuts which is absolutely brilliant.
They also make a mean Tarka Dall (curried lentils fried in butter) and their kebabs rock.
Sporpy should be a limited series not ongoing unlike Indian food which is always ongoing (FLUSH)

Only if Skorpy joins the GLX and they have Wolverine guest-star as a waiter.

I see Sporpy as a Mad Max style wasteland gang, ruled by a spicy version of Lord Humongous.... or maybe the Toe Cutter.

Is Sporpy a spicy mutant?
I'm in favor of this only if Aquaman gets a cameo and says, "Mama mia! That's one SPICY MUTANT!"

I like the premise of Sporpy, yes, I think it should. Just get Benes as the artist. I bet he draws a mean Spicy Szechuan.

Comics News
-------------
DC have just released news of their latest Chinese food related title named 'Sporpy'.
The new ongoing series will come out twice a month. The first issue then an hour after the second issue as you always feel hungry again after Chinese food.
Dan Didio coments: Spicy Chinese food has long been left out of the DC diet. We've had plenty of superheroes, detectives and nuclear men but never an entire family addicted to spicy food.
This book will be one of our flagship titles.
Sporpy by Gail Simone, drawn by Ed Benes, inks by Jimmy Palmiotti. Available on 1st April 2006 at 12pm and 1pm priced $2.50 or $4.00 with egg fried rice.

Gail
Seeing as he/she is gender neutral I think it more likley Sporpy is a simulcrum.

I'm sure Sporpy will be great and all, but I think I'll wait for All-Star Sporpy, because regular Sporpy is so bogged down by continuity.

After reading the "one year later" thread, I'm seriously worried for Sporpy, especially after next month, the deadly Sushi Ninjas are appearing...!
