It has more people than are listed in the "Bios including so and so." So I think Deadpool will be there, since he hasnt been in any other handbook in the past year.

Deadpool got a 3-page profile in THE OFFICIAL HANDBOOK OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE: WOLVERINE 2004, and isn't featured in the current A-Z run. He's probably a good candidate for a 2007 update, though...

Well if your still trying to make your mind up, just remember she is in astonishing x-men. . A very popular book, and everybody is going to ask about her.
She doesn't appear in any other handbook so maybe this one. ;)

Yeah, but there's not very much info about her out there. Not even enough to fill a full profile.

Yay, I'll probably buy it for Diamondback and the Dark Riders. I hope it's a picture of the second wave of Dark Riders...they were the best. :D

Icky. If Bootleg 60s "Dazzler" is in it, I'm guessing Ali B isn't.
I thought that this A-Z was supposed to be a "complete" set to coordinate the several fragmented, themed volumes out there?

The original Dazzler is featured in this issue, but Alison is not. Sorry.

The 2006 A-Z run is more of a companion to the 2004-2005 releases...only a very few 2004-2005 subjects will get do-overs in 2006, so that regular handbook readers aren't stuck with a bunch of rehash material virtually reprinting the last year or two's worth of books. We may see more updating of 2004-2005 material in 2007 or beyond, though.
Dazzler got profiled in the WOMEN OF MARVEL 2005 handbook, and hasn't changed all that much apart from getting a new look and joining EXCALIBUR (both very recent developments). I'd say she's an excellent candidate for a post-2006 update, though, especially since her WOMEN profile was a one-pager.

I was going to buy this anyway, but 2 pages on Diamondback should be cool. She had already gotten some face time in the Bad Girls entry, so I wasn't expecting more.
Doctor Doom's Generals (1)
I got frightened reading this too quickly as Doctor Doom's Genitals. :)

I guess I'll be waiting til 2007 then.
I don't have the other handbooks, and I thought this was going to have absolutely everyone in it.
After getting the the first 2 volumes of this OHOTMU... I was disappointed in the lack of popular characters in it.
I'm debating whether or not to get anymore in this edition.

I don't have the other handbooks, and I thought this was going to have absolutely everyone in it.
We felt that it would be unfair to those readers who did pick up the 2004/2005 Handbooks to repeat profiles of the characters featured therein. Any such updates at this stage would only be minor, meaning people would be getting essentially the same profiles in books they've already purchased. That's hardly fair. Plus, it's more than likely that they'll be collected in trade at some point, so that would also have contained repeated profiles.
After getting the the first 2 volumes of this OHOTMU... I was disappointed in the lack of popular characters in it.
Depends on your definition of "popular". Thus far in the 2006 A-Z series we've featured many characters that are contenders for the popular title, such as Agent X, Anarchist, Arsenic & Old Lace, Aurora, Avengers (MC2), Banshee, Baron Mordo, Baron Strucker, Baron Zemo, Blizzard, Blob, Boom-Boom, Bruiser, Bug, Caliban, Captain Universe, Black Tom Cassidy, Celestials, Cerise, Chamber, Lila Cheney, Cosmic Cube, Crimson Cowl, Darkdevil, Darkstar, Daughters of the Dragon, Dead Girl, Deathlok, Death's Head, Demogoblin, Diamondback, Doop, Dormammu, and Drax.

I like how it has lesser known characters, but I don't like how it goes so far into history and brings up all these Golden Age characters that nobody uses anymore. But the fact that Blizzard, Diamondback, etc. makes me happy. But I do find myself agonizing over the fact that there's characters that have appeared around twice in comic history, while others (CARGILL *COUGH*) has a pretty big history and hasn't gotten an entry yet. ;_;
But yeah, if you want to read a biography about Wolverine or Captain America or something, go read their perspective handbooks. *This* handbook is for us B-List lovers and below.

Different strokes--some folks love seeing the obscure Golden Agers, some folks don't care for it. And for what it's worth, you never know when some of these characters might get used in stories again...
I do find myself agonizing over the fact that there's characters that have appeared around twice in comic history, while others (CARGILL *COUGH*) has a pretty big history and hasn't gotten an entry yet.
Well, Cargill did get a Master Edition entry as Frenzy back in the 90s, but that was quite a while ago, and she hadn't made many appearances back then and little was known about her at the time, so it wasn't really an info-rich entry. You're probably right about her deserving more coverage, so we'll definitely keep her in mind for 2007...

Would it be wrong to ask about the chances of certain characters getting covered down the line? :D (*Revanche*Risque*Reyes*...Cecilia that is--I liked the triple 'R' thing I had going)
Anyway, I do plan on picking this up--thanks for posting the list, Sean.
Novaya (or anyone)--how was the Darkstar entry and who was the art by?

I dunno yet. I'll take a peek once I'm back in Chicag (Sunday). I would have bought it if it had both Darkstar AND Dazzler -- but now, I'm not so sure. We'll see. I miss that Russki mama.

There are tentative handbook plans for a couple of those characters.
how was the Darkstar entry and who was the art by?
The Darkstar entry (by Eric Moreels) is a pretty complete survey of Laynia's history, two pages long (double the length of her old Deluxe Edition coverage).
The entry includes four images of Laynia in various costumes and situations by Brett Booth, John Byrne, Sal Buscema and Igor Kordey.

And Deaths Head's backgorund mentions Rodimus, Unicron and the Doctor by name. Odd, usually he get's vague mentions of sentient mechanoids and a time traveller.

Interesting how it lists Diamond Lil was unconfirmed and saying all of the mutants at the camp had lost their powers, yet she among others were part of the 198.
Communication problem or something that will be touched upon later?

It didn't say all the mutants in Neverland had lost their powers, only that they were depowered (which was a result of Weapon X's abuse of Leech).

Don't speak too soon . . .
Straczynski Talks Bullet Points (http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/Spider-Man/amazing/Straczynski.htm)
The Bullet Points mini-series is probably the most significant way this is being done, but I'm also playing with some additional projects. One of them also springs off WWII, a mini-series in which we see 12 Marvel characters who haven't been used since those early days all put into a situation that propels them into the present. Some of them deal with that transition easier than others, while some fall into a tremendous darkness. If you think about the stark differences between Steve Rogers in the 1940s waking up in the 60s, consider now what it would be like to go from the 1940s to 2006. It's a dark, brooding kind of story, which contrasts the present with the past, as the characters confront a mystery about one of them who may not be what he appears.
