What have been the best and worst fashion trends to be derived from pop music over the years? I'm talking about styles of clothing and hairdressing that were direct results of teenagers mimicking the fashion choices of popular musicians in rock and hip-hop music.

Worst:
-Beatles-style haircuts
-Leg warmers
-the hair metal spandex-and-fishnet look
-the mullet
-little girls dressing look hookers in imitation of Madonna, Britney, Christina Aguilera, etc.
-pants hanging way down or past the ass

Yeah, for some reason, it looked good on professional rock musicians (professional hairdressers, perhaps?), but for most guys, it looked ridiculous.

Almost anything from the 80s.

Skinny ties? Check.
Leg warmers? Check
Spandex and fishnets on guys? Check
Underwear as outerwear? Mostly suck, so check.
Hm, longcoats came in during the 80s. They've been overdone since then, but I don't think they suck. But they're possibly the only exception.

Whether it was good or bad is for someone else to decide, but you couldn't go anywhere in the early '90s without sporting flannel.

Oh, come on. A decade that banished leisure suits and elevator shoes for years couldn't have been all bad. :)

I must admit, I wish zoot suits would make a comeback. I keep waiting.
Apparently that wish is exclusive to Howard Chaykin, Morris Day and myself.

Come to think of it, neither do I!I kinda wish I did. Maybe if they'd had digital cameras back then, you'd be able to see explosion-of-hair moshpit photos of me.

Dude, wearing jeans and a t-shirt with a flannel overshirt?
The height of comfort.
I would have to say grunge was good, so long as you bathed and washed your clothes every so often.

The height of comfort.Especially if the shirt was tied around your waist and you were wearing Docs, too.

Besides being probably my favorite Soundgarden, Louder Than Love had the best cover art, even if it kinda apes London Calling
