This is 2894370 miles away from continuity.

Magneto - I want Magneto to be more the politician in Genosha than the frontman for the Brotherhood. He got Genosha in return for abandoning his terrorist activities, right? I think. So he should orchestrate the strings from behind the scenes while the others carry the dirty tasks out. He'll only reveal himself when he's ready to.

Sabretooth - A feral and wild beast, he's a good member to have to take down pathetic humans. Perfect for taking Wolverine out of the way in battle, long enough for Magneto to finish his plans.

Toad - He hasn't really been treated nicely since I saw him in Generation X, but the terrible Toad is quick, agile, and just plain nasty. He's kind of strong with his legs and his tongue. Good lackey.

Mystique - She and Magneto have never worked before (despite every out of canon incarnation of her), but her philosophies fit well with his. Together, she can do the espionage while he pulls out the raw power later. Perfect for slinking around and killing.

Phantazia - Just because I want to see her again. We know she's alive (New Avengers) !!! So why not?

Exodus - I'm getting lazy at typing, but he's an all around bad guy that would do good with Magneto.

Throw in a couple of Acolytes, too.

My Brotherhood Team....

I think I would break from traditional Mystique or Mags led teams. I picture it as a bad version of the original X-men. A mentor training young mutants in their powers to take advantage of the power vaccuum caused by M day.

Leader: Black Tom: He's got ties to Juggy (Former best friend & is a great villian) He's likely angry about his cousin too.

Mondo: He's a great character and he's been shown to be influenced by Black Tom before. He was last seen with Black Tom....and we've seen characters go from Brotherhood to X-men before! as well as brotherhood to Avengers!

Cordelia Frost: Again another character with ties to X-men and to Black Tom. She's young and Fun and has something to prove. Plus Emma would be Pi$$ed!

Vincente: Another great gem of a character with a cool power and visual. He fits well into my young Baddy Brotherhood.

Magik: She's gotta come back and what better way than mysteriously showing up on a baddy team!

Empath: He's a kick addicted morrally questionable member who is super powerful and would be perfect dating Cordelia. Plus again it would make Emma mad.

Tarot: She's back too and has ties to Emma and Empath. I'd love to hear why and how she returned.

Penance: The husk dissapeared a long while back and tying into the Gen X theme I've established, she's back and this team's scrapper. I think it would be a great chance to redeem this once wonderful character.

Mystique - Whenever I think "the Brotherhood" she is the first name that comes to mind.

Blindfold - She would be the new Destiny.(I know she's a telepath not a precog but she's blind too :p )

Sabretooth

Avalanche

Toad

Woosh, there's always so many of these...hehe ^_^

1.) Mystique (leader) -- it's not a Brotherhood if either Magneto or Mystique aren't the leader, but Magneto has his Acolytes. So Mystique is my choice.

2.) Mastermind II (second-in-command) -- they seemed chummy during the X-Corps storyline and I could see her becoming her protege. (though I'd hope her hair would've grown back by now)

3.) Avalanche -- obviously, where Mystique is, her good friend Avalanche is as well.

4.) Toad -- Martinique's got the hots for him, so it'd bring in some whacky storylines with those two.

5.) Frenzy -- since Blob's depowered, Frenzy would be a perfect addition to the Brotherhood as the "muscle" of the group.

6.) Sabre -- the young man introduced in X-Men #106 or whatever, he was fun, and fills the "super speed" quota.

7.) Ruckus -- he's worked for Mystique once before, jazz him up and he can be the fabulously token gay for the Brotherhood.

8.) Prism -- he'd work well with his powers, and it'd give them a chance to make his personality a bit more stable...(unlike his body).

definately out-of-continuity but you did ask for a dream lineup.

1. Magneto [the figurehead of the organization, general, & financial backer]
2. Mystique [the Brotherhood's field leader]
3. Pyro
4. Avalanche
5. Phantazia
6. Blob
7. Mastermind [Martinique Wyngarde]
8. Mimic [version whose temper caused him to quit the original X-Men]
9. Unus the Untouchable
---------
10. Toad [gets an intelligence upgrade & make him their weapons-maker/mechanic]
11. Astra [team teleporter - scientist - all-around crazy Magneto groupie]
12. Destiny [Mystique's lover & mutant "fortune-teller"]

if you were wondering, this wouldn't be the only mutant terrorist group that Magneto organizes. he has captains spread out around the world. Exodus is his 2nd in command in the Acolytes. Reignfire is the captain of the Mutant Liberation Front. and he'd have a loose association with Callisto and her Morlocks.

Oh, if we're going by "DREAM Team," mine would definitely be the same list as yours, minus Magneto, Astra, and Destiny. And possibly Mimic. And add in Sabre and Ruckus. <3

neither Astra or Destiny are active combatants. one is there to transport them. the other just gives them the advantage with her predictions. and Magneto would normally be busy elsewhere. he's just their figurehead. Mystique's the field-leader.

Anyone else find the notion of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants a bit...unusable now?

Magneto's vision got considerably larger when he took over Genosha. Anyone supporting him would just be his follower and a name like the Brotherhood would be silly.

Mystique's version is terrorism based, which is still good today, but it's been done and done and is kind of played out.

The X-Men's villains either feature grey areas in their motivations, or are too grandiose themselves to band together in a form of the Brotherhood. So that leaves something like what we saw most recently, where just some second string villains band together and....just attack the X-Men? For what purpose? Doing that is just kind of yawn inspiring.

The Brotherhood of Mutants would need a defined purpose, and need to be more than JUST a team of bad mutants banding together to oppose the X-Men. Once a purpose has been defined, then you can go about naming members who'd fit that purpose.
MY vision sort of resembles something more like the Hellfire Club. Powerful mutants acting in more subversive ways to do their dirty deeds than outright supervillain attacks. But then...why not just use the Hellfire Club? So yeah.

sounds to me like the Hellfire Club is outdated and unusable. Sebastian's just a tool nowadays. none of them have a chance of ruling the world with the Illuminati being formed by heroes (i really hate the Illuminati concept btw). heck, who had the stupid idea to make Sunspot the guy in charge? does that really make sense given how bad a job he's done keeping the peace, so far? the IRA isn't huge, so i don't see why the Brotherhood has to be. just put Mystique in charge. i doubt her plans have changed all that much. she's a terrorist. the Brotherhood would be a group of terrorists. :)

The Illuminati have been retconned into being in existence for a long time, so that doesn't effect the Hellfire Club. And the Illuminati as a group won't survive the upcoming New Avengers one shot anyway.

Maybe some of the characters in the Hellfire Club are outdated, but not really. Any character is only as good as the person writing them. Anyone can be good in a good writers hands.
But the CONCEPT of the HFC is not outdated, and is probably even more viable given whats coming up in Civil War.

Mr. M, Mammomax, Erg,Fever Pitch,Sack,Toad, and Lorelei as a kind of ragtag Brotherhood that emerges from the pages of 198 lashing out at the government for their mistreatment. Then Mystique, Avalanche, and Saberooth could come in and organize them and make them a real threat.

I think that Mr. M is a little above the rag tag lvl. But I do agree that the rest you could consider rag tag.......except maybe toad.
