When Kal-L, Lois Lane of Earth-Two, Superboy-Prime, and Alexander Luthor are dealing with people from the current Earth-DCU, they *do* know that they're not dealing with the same people that they had known from Pre-COIE Earth-One, right? Or at least, they know that the "Earth-One" people no longer remember things the same way they used to?

When Kal-L fought Kal-El in INFINITE CRISIS # 5 (and elsewhere), did he believe he was fighting his old friend, the Silver/Bronze Age Kal-El, or did he believe he was fighting a Kal-El he had never met before?

I have to agree. They did watch the universe ufold. But my question is this:
Could they see Hypertime?

The "retcon punch" may have created hypertime.

I went back to find a quote from a post I had made here last year.

Lastly, on Page 01 of INFINITE CRISIS # 1, Kal-L asks, "Why are we here? ...They've forgotten, haven't they?" The post-Crisis Superman is the first person we see. Unless Kal-L means "What is the meaning of life?" when he says, "Why are we here?", then I think he's talking about the end of the Multiverse. If the modern Superman weren't the same person as the Earth-One Superman, then the former couldn't have forgotten the Multiverse. Kal-L must think it's the same Kal-El.

Kal-L has said that Earth-1 was the template, that all the other earths were folded into it's fabric.

I'm not so sure. After all, Power Girl turned out to be the one from Earth-2, and Alex said Kyle and Jason would have been from Earth 8 so maybe they figure the other folks are really from Earth-1, their former friends, but just don't know it.

If you follow the Secret Files and the Superman tie-ins, it appears that Superboy Prime turned the Earth-1 Superman into the Man of Steel version and then turned him into the Birthright version. But it was his fracturing punch, not his reconciling punch.

The current Superman has three life histories, all equally true.

They know that the current heroes are unaware of their past, but I don't think they are considering that to be pertinent. Whether or not Superman realizes he used to be the Earth 1 Superman or not, Kal-L thinks he's been doing a crappy job.
