I really think Gilda Dent should look into becoming a writer. She doesn't think she is good enough, but I disagree. I think she probably needs to work at the craft to reach the professional level, but her posts demonstrate she has loads of the basic talent.

There, I said it.

While I love Gilda as much as everyone else on this board, I just have to say... I need to see some writing samples first.

:p

That's very responsible.

For a damn ferret fancier.

I'm flattered, really, but nobody gets to see my writing, not the real stuff, except Emily. It's just not good enough for publication in any form.

I'm afraid I simply don't have the talent for it. I'm missing the creative spark that you need to be good.

Everyone knows Gilda is too busy on the Professional Bowling circuit anyway to be a professional writer on top of that.

Gilda

many writers have a word for that "creative spark"

It's "weed"

Your writing doesn't have to be "creative." It can be articles, reviews, autobiographical stuff, etc.

You're a very thoughtful, intelligent, well-read person. You have ideas and opinions.

Share them; the world needs them.

The creative spark is irrelevent, lot's of writers... oh wait, you said "to be good", gotcha, nevermind.

And on top of that, she does an excellent job at getting the emotional intent of her posts across. I have seen this time and again, and tells me she has the basic talent for it.

Okay, I guess you can take it as a very special sort of compliment when I say:

When I clicked on the title of this thread, I thought it was a gag, because I have always assumed by the quality of her posts and expression that Gilda ALREADY IS a professional writer.

Kudos, Gilda. Glad to know you.

I would trade a book if Gilda paid me money.

If it were anyone but Gilda I'd have a sick comeback for this quote.

Gilda a writer? Sure, why not? I'd like to see PatrickG's ideas in some published form at some time too.

And that Gail chick ain't that bad either, though she needs to cut back on the slurpees.

No, I was gonna post it, but people are too bitchy about comic books, even ones that are good.

I know my story's not up their with good comics, I'd be eaten alive. =(

I don't think they are more 'bitchy', just more vocal about calling out what is crap from what is not, and a bit more particular in their tastes than they were 20 years or more ago.

And seriously, even when I was young comics were like 50 cents. I expect a good story if I'm going to plop down on average three bucks a comic these days.
